We all know and it's really no secret that cell phone companies track peoples movements.

Yesterday when county health nurse did our local Covid-19 up date.. They put up a graph showing how locally cases in our county were below the state curve on new case.. Said it was great and showed people were taking social distancing here seriously. Then she followed up by saying that people needed to stay the course. As information from cell phone providers was showing locally increased activity by people moving around..
I know I have the actual location/gps turned off on my phone. Also know that provider can tell where my phone is based off which tower it's using. So unless you have your phone totally powered off. Their going to know at least that your moving.
Just like someone probably knows I'm on line right now.

Those big screen roadside advertisement billboards are where those readers are. You drive by them and soon your phone will have an advert for one of the malls stores you passed.
It's not the towers but those devises.

Do you really believe that blocks your location from view by the phone company?

You can turn off location all you want on your phone. It doesnt disable it from the phone companies end. Only way to actually turn the thing off is to take the battery physically out of the phone. Which if you have noticed most new phones you cannot even get to the battery. They also listen to what you are saying. I know many many times me and the wife have been talking about getting something totally off the wall and suddenly ads pop up for whatever it was on our phones and computers.

If you dont want something able to track you you are gonna have to leave your phone at home.

This would be a perfect time to just leave the phone at home if you're only going out for a bit. You know, like folks did 100% of the time not more than 20 years ago.

Exactly, I find myself feeling vulnerable if I leave home without it! Most of my life there were no cell phones, yet they have become such a part of our lives we think we can't live without them. I need to stop using my phone as a crutch.

Wait till 5G. It will take it to levels we cant imagine. All the platforms for 5G are controlled by China so they will be in control of everything.

In these uncertain times I'd rather my family be able to get ahold of me if I am out and about. I'm more concerned about that than big brother sending me a ticket for leaving my house. Just go to the liquor store or gun store every time you leave the house and it's an essential trip.

If you're that worried, why are you "out and about"?

I would only go where I told my wife/family I was going, in a direct route. No side trips, no window shopping. Go out and get it done.

I am starting to want to do that more and more. Especially as my employer wants me to put more stuff on my phone for work purposes.

And my phone is old and I hate getting new phones.

Yep, or just leave it at home. I have never owned one. Don't care if no one can find me and I'm pretty sure no one wants to.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Why would anyone be interested in where I go or what I do above and beyond the millions of other people on the planet?
People must think they're real important to have government/industry tracking their every move, lol.
I know I aint.
