What say U?

No election and the successor may be Pelosi if her district has an election and she wins......if not looks like Chuck Grassley. Pompeo would be next at the present time.

The constitution allows congress to set the day for elections. So they could change the day, but they can't cancel it. But the constitution also says a president's term is 4 years, so there has to be an election, because Trump's current term will expire 1-20-21. He cannot remain in office after that unless he wins an election, and the presidential succession thing only applies if the president dies or cannot serve.

Just because the two geriatrics can't go out and campaign at the moment. Don't see why not as they seldom get more than 6 people together per rally anyway, does nt mean they can just cancel the whole gig. Bit of a shame really as I would have liked to hear the end of the corn pop story. This whole thing actually play in their favor as like this Biden can't waddle around making a fool of himself more than absotively necessary. They can just mothball the crazy coot till election day without him damaging his campaign every day he is in the public light.

That is actually not true...if there can be no election the chain of succession is used..

Do not take any meds or watch any tv.

Just looking ahead at what may be possible from this. Even if they get the curve to flatten this thing is still going to keep spreading for a while and the will come back again next fall. Try to keep an open mind even thou it may be difficult for you to do that. Couple of weeks ago when I said I thought they would shut the country down soon some folks said I was nuts......guess what?

From the 20th amendment...If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.

Son of a gun, you're right. Took some looking up, but it's right there in plain text. I learned something new today. I think the intent for this was if the electoral college or congress couldn't make a decision, but in any case, it says right there in the text that there is a succession plan if a president isn't elected.

If there isn't a Presidential election then there wouldn't be any elections in theory. Then what lol.

That may not be true, some areas may feel it is 'safe' to have an election and other areas may not.....you need to have every district vote for a national election.....one district says it is not safe and then there are no valid results.,.

The ^above is just my opinion^......

Pretty sure the left will push for mail in ballots. That will make it much easier for them to cheat.

At this time Pelosi is third in line.God forbid! Heard today on CNN that some fools are trying to draft Cuomo because Biden is in never never land..
Things are so bad in New York that the candidates don't campaign here because it is a fact the state will go Democrat. So essentially my vote counts for nothing,

Exactly my thoughts, and there's absolutely no doubt they will.

Congressional terms expire before the president/vice president term expires. That is, the new congress is seated before the current presidential term will end. So if some places don't hold an election in November, and some areas do, then wouldn't the new speaker end up being chosen by whichever areas/states end up having an election, and the resulting new party ratio that results? So who knows what the makeup of the new congress might be that would end up maybe choosing an interim president/vise president.

Look at the hotspots right now where they might not be able to hold elections... New York, California, etc. Lots of big cities that typically go democrat. Wonder how that might play out
