H-2B foreign workers are the legal type of foreign works we want; not the illegal type.
These workers are generally the only workers who will take jobs in certain industries. In the Alaska Bristol Bay commercial salmon fishery, a lot, if not most of the process workers are foreigners. They are the only ones who will work the long, grueling hours required by the industry.
A few years ago there was a glitch in the entry system that didn't allow these workers in the USA. The fish processing companies had to try to hire US citizens. It was a disaster, nothing about complaining and work stoppages. These workers knew ahead of time that they would be required to work 16 hours a day during the peak of the season; they refused. A bunch of whiners.
If you think you can handle the work, or know someone who thinks they can, I can steer you in the right direction, but I sure wouldn't recommend it. I am frequently on the processing ships that these poor folks are working on, it really does suck.
I generally like Tucker Carlson, but he does get it wrong once and a while, just like we all do. Workers shouldn’t have to work 16 hours a day, i’m sure someone from some 3rd world country would be happy to come and take your job and work twice the hours for half the pay. I get so tired of hearing there the only ones who will do the jobs. Yeah, there the only ones who will do the jobs because of the terrible hours, conditions, wages, etc! Are you kidding me? Those are the hours the foreign workers want to work, this is only a two month long job, it is the ridiculous overtime that makes you the money. It is the attitude that you espouse that creates the need for these foreign workers. You obviously don't know anything about the industry.

That's the same thing they used to say about the mines. We just hit 6.6 million unemployed, we don't need to add to the number of visa's that already exist.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

A few here sound like communist supporters........."why let corporations".........What do you consider a fair wage? Dollar General here is offering $12/hr for unskilled workers and there are no takers. McD starts out at $10.50 for unskilled workers. No takers. Capitalism has done well in this country, but it's coming to an end with mandatory closing of the doors of small businesses. The wages stop, but do the salaries stop for the unessential government workers? Of course not!

What did we do before the foreign workers were coming here?
You have to be kidding. This county was built by legal foreign immigrants that weren't afraid of working hard to better their situation.

What did we do before the foreign workers were coming here?
You have to be kidding. This county was built by legal foreign immigrants that weren't afraid of working hard to better their situation. Those immigrants came here to stay and build a life, not provide cheap labor and leave. You changed my wording and you did it because it makes me look like a collectivist. I said "good wage" you changed it to ask me what is a "fair wage" there is a difference between my statement and your question. After that again you isolated three words out of a sentence "why let corporations" you pretext it with "sound like communist supporters" to again make me sound like a collectivist authoritarian. If you want to have a honest conversation in good faith dont play word games to paint your opponent in a bad text. You need to realize, it is not capitalism I am complaining about, its cronyism. There is few better examples of cronyism than corporations lobbying politicians to have cheap foreign workers imported in order to cut wages and boost profits.

Do any of you guys know someone including yourself who would like to work on a fish processing ship this summer? If so, let me know and I can hook you up.
You aren't guaranteed to make much money if the fish run is poor. If the fish run is big you can expect to work 16 hours a day for a couple of weeks, you may put in one or two 24 hour shifts. You will live in cramped quarters with several other guys. The food will generally be okay, but no guarantees. Your freshwater showers will be limited. You will get to see Alaska, but only from the water, you won't be able to go to shore.

It's even harder to find Americans to work in a Texas hay field during the summer. Almost impossible. Do any of you guys know someone including yourself who would like to work on a fish processing ship this summer? If so, let me know and I can hook you up.

Hmmmm. The president uses these employable aliens at Mar A Lago. Then complains there are too many in this country. Does he pay a decent wage to his alien workers? We’ll probably never know. He hides his taxes.

Sorry Donner........most corporations are owned by stockholders and they demand a certain return on their investment or they will pull out and go elsewhere with their money. It's a dog eat dog world. Everything in the world is based on the almighty $$$$. Look at our elected leaders.

He hides his taxes. You forgot to insert the word "illegal" in there where it would be proper. Every motel I go to no matter what part of the country has Hispanic room maids. One more job a common American won't do.

I don't even care if a worker comes in illegal if he comes to work. It's the ones that come to live on welfare and prey on the population that's the problem.
