Pretty sure the United States Coast Guard just closed down the Charter Fishing Industry on Lake Ontario in New York State which is a Multi-million dollar tourist Industry here in Northern New York.
Tens of thousands of sport fishermen come from all over the eastern U.S. to fish for salmon and trout from April thru October and would no doubt spread the virus here or take it back home.
It's really going to destroy a lot of small businesses here where I live.
Sad, but probably necessary, and smart.

Well If you ever drive down some Alaskan HI way during Moose season every pull off has at least 10 trucks parked bumper to bumper.

I was supposed to be guiding a brown bear hunter this May. That is not going to happen. I reluctantly agree with this decision.
The hunt (like many if not most of these hunts) takes place in a remote area of Alaska. Getting to the "point of outfitting" involves both the hunter and guide flying out to an isolated village or small town.
Alaska currently has in place sever restriction on even residents traveling from one town to another.
The village I hunt out of consists of about 70 people, many of them are old, diabetic, and have other health issues. In the best of times (good weather, plane availability, etc.) it takes about three hours to get to a hospital from this village.
In 1918 nearly half of the village's population was wiped out by the Spanish flue. The people who currently live in this village are descendants of the survivors of that pandemic. They have not forgotten about it.

I am glad that some people can see the far reaching effect of the virus. It is just much hard on some than others.

Local reservation Chairmen had a bit in the paper about the fishermen coming in from places that have the no travel orders in place but are still are coming in from places that have more cases then we do. This is from a place that has a Casino so they must be worried to pass on the business they could get out of it.

Lotsa folks flying to Alaska for hunting. The fishing and tourism is likely to suffer greatly this summer as well.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Alaska is likely to be hit harder than any other State with this current economic crisis. Oil at $20 a barrel, and tourism being shut down; there really is nothing left except the commercial fishing industry, and that will suffer to to labor issues.

w But NYC continues to run the subways, its buses, and gobs of taxi cabs!! I was watching a live news feed late last night from NYC and there went a big slinky bus and 3 dozen cabs while the guy was talking. Gee, I wonder how they have community spread! You couldn't pay me enough to ride in a NYC cab right now. But walleye, your stuff is easy pickings for the bureaucrats. Controlling the riots of few thousands of folks on the southeast corner of Lake Ontario is easier to do (in their minds) than controlling several million NYC residents who can't move around the city except maybe walking. I hope the whole season for you all up there isn't screwed over...

A lot of Alaskan residents bear bait within few hours of home. It makes no sense for them. Just shut down non-resident hunting and restrict flights to villages.
Once size fits all is simple minded.

Another factor may be the sealing requirements which necessitate interacting w the hunter. Thats not to say they couldn't come up w something else like a phone call to report a kill and delayed sealing.

The Nebraska Fish and game just notified my friend that his Non resident turkey permit was null and void. Total opposite of what Nebraska said when they contacted me. They said Nonresident turkey permit sales have been discontinued to prevent folks from traveling into the state. They said if you have already purchased a permit that you can hunt or they would refund your money if you didn’t want to travel into Nebraska.
