Stack fur to fur and leather to leather. Gently fold - do not crease - so they look like a hard shell taco and place in a freezer.

Depending on the size and If they will lay flat In the freezer I wouldn't be bending them. Or In most cases your freezer is maybe deep enough so you can stand the skins on edge. If this Is the case I would cut 2 pieces of cardboard and sandwich the skins in between. Then either staple the 2 pieces of cardboard together or duct tape them together If It were me I'd do both. This will give you a nice compact package that won't take up much room and give you plenty of protection.
You could also lay them flat If you have the room.

I have never done this but If you can package those hides like I described and seal the edges so no bugs can get In you might get away with It. Just keep them In a cool dry place and hope for the best. The thing I'd be worried about would be a molding problem. A slight case of mold Is no big deal It can be wiped away. I guess you could open the package a few times and see how things are going.
Maybe some one else has a better idea.

Cool, dry storage out of.reach of rodents. I kept a few hung in my pole barn a couple years ago and I did have a little mold on the areas I didn't get fleshed as well as I should have. I sold them following fall with no deduction. My barn stays about 60 all summer.

Wish I had more time to trap....

I tried it once and had insect damage, but I didn't have it sealed up properly nor did I use any sort of Raid. I have since then bought a freezer.

if you dont have a freezer to keep the dried skins over the summer.Hang them up in a fur bag in a cool dry place.Open the bag and inspect the skins every 2 or 3 weeks, and spray raid on the beetle maggots. This will keep the skins from being ruined by the dermestid beetles.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

If they a nice winter beaver, you could send them up to Moyles or to Hector (Furs 4 Fun) both in Idaho for tanning. Shipping shouldn't be too bad, or depending on where you are in Utah might be a nice drive.
