You can tell I'm bored to come up with a topic like this.
For those who think a tomato is a fruit their justification comes from the fact that apples, oranges, grapes, etc have their seeds inside as does a tomato. But then, so do some veggies have their seeds inside too, such as green beans and squash.
I go by taste. If they have a substantial amount of sweetness like apples, oranges, pears, peaches and the like do, IMO they are a fruit. A tomato has very little sweetness in them same as asparagus, beans, broccoli, etc. For me, tomatoes pass the test for being a vegetable, not a fruit. For what it's worth, my wife vehemently disagrees with me.

They are neither a fruit nor a vegetable. They are actually a type of berry.

Do you want the biological or cultural or both answers...?

I reckon you must consider a lemon or lime a vegetable too......huh? Good example. Green beans, squash and tomatoes are all correctly fruit by definition because of how they are built. They are all incorrectly considered vegetables by many people. Keith
