How about a thread of good things any of us are seeing?

I had to go to the pharmacy drive thru yesterday to pick up meds for my wife. While waiting, I was looking around the parking lot and saw a group of about 6-8 cars in an unused area backed into a circle. Trunks and hatchbacks open, young folks sitting in their cars or folding chairs near their cars spaced far enough apart to comply with distancing recommendations; yet close enough to visit and carry on conversations. One had music playing at a reasonable level, most had coolers with their own food and drink. This group looked to be late teens, maybe early 20s. It was good to see young people making the best out of a bad situation and doing so wisely.

I've seen more kids playing outside in their lawns. Noticeable difference.

Yeah, I chuckled the other day when I seen kids out playing. I thought to myself, I wonder if they're playing Livestock management technicians and indigenous peoples. grin

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I have had some very long, good conversations with some friends and relatives on the phone. They are not used to being isolated, like we are, living and working on our farm. 3 of the calls have gone over 3 hours and 30 minutes. Numerous other calls have gone well over an hour. I have not talked this much on the phone since maybe my teens.

I live very near a boat landing on the north end of Lake Onalaska. Driven down there a few times and have seen folks banks fishing while keeping the recommended distance. Most fun has been seeing kids riding their bikes down to the landing with fishing poles and tackle boxes. Even had one the other day, a little older than most kids and wearing a black hoodie, still heading down there with a fishing pole in hand riding a skateboard. Life on Brice Prairie goes on....

The local Sheriff Dept isn’t even enforcing ATV/UTV riding. Seen more kids riding the past few weeks than ever before. My oldest and I broke ours out and joined the “crowd”.

My 25 year old called the other day while we were talking about everything going on , he made the comment that he hoped families were coming together like he remembered as a kid. Family dinner every night , no fast food or eating in front of the tv. I know here my wife and i have grown closer and her son qhos staying with us for a couple weeks or ? Is really enjoying the family time.

Seeing more people shopping local now and not running to the mega stores to save money just to waste gas to get there and back. Boats coming and going so people are still fishing, people seem more aware of others now when we do visit mostly outside now.

Traffic is way down. Set the cruise on 55 & never touch it from Gary, Ind to Juliet, Ill. I'd rather have the normal traffic.

Not as bad as I could be, not as good as I should be.

A lot of folks enjoying the outdoors here in Ga. Maybe this will create a lasting impression on many out of touch people about how important our land, waters, and wildlife really are.

Example: rural boat landings on many local rivers that never have more than 3 or 4 trucks and boat trailers have had dozens, some had hundreds...with no where to park.

See more families walking and bicycling together. People sitting in their front yards just to chat with people walking by. Also, people seem friendlier, at least in my town.

One of my grandkids first cousins got to fish at a friends pond today. He looks happy in the photo his dad took with the kid holding a fish.

With extra time on their hands, more folks seem to be interested in planting a garden. Gotta help folks getting ground tilled.

I’ve had more folks stopping at the house to buy honey. Self serve stand....folks trying to stay outta stores and buy local.

There is something in my make-up that makes me giddy all over to be reminded that I'm not really in control of anything. That in the grand scheme of things I'm just a little (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman)-ant. I feel the same when we have big storms that are knocking things over, and generally whenever there is some sort of natural calamity at hand.

I do feel sorry for those that have lost everything in these cases...I guess I'm just weird this way.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!
