When I was about 8yo my cousin introduced me to he called "mayonnaise sandwiches" - Miracle Whip about a 1/2" thick between two Bunny Bread slices, nothing else. I loved them things and I think we used a whole jar of dressing and a loaf of BB. (Lots of sugar in both, I know now) So on the ride home I bugged Mom and Dad about buying "mayonnaise" so I could eat this wonderful stuff at home, up til that time they never bought either because before Rural Electrification the stuff was only good for one day or a few hours in summer; so we stop at the general store for cow feed and bacon and Mom got a 1/2 pint jar of Hellmann's ..., now you MW lovers know what my reaction was when I globbed a bunch of that on bread and tried to eat it! Nasty doesn't do that stuff justice! Well the folks put some on cold cut sandwiches and the rest was soon spoiled in the heat. Years later I learned to eat either on cold things, but mayo always tastes like it is the verge of spoilage. I can't stand either on warm or hot foods like a burger, I've gone hungry to keep from eating mayo a burger, that just smells bad. Can't even scrape the stench off either, if it's on the meat. Can't watch you eat it either. It's probably 4-5 years since I ate either, my wife buys mayo for her tuna but I never touch it.

I like both. I usually eat Miracle Whip with ham, bologna and on BLTs. I usually eat mayonnaise with turkey, roast beef and corned beef. I use either with tuna.
Keith I'm with you 90%. I like tuna only with Miracle Whip.

Miracle whip is just one molecule away from being plastic. Same goes for margarine .... no thank you. Give me butter and mayo ... not that artificial carp. Exactly!! I don't even know why people equate the two items; just because they look similar and are in the same isle at the grocery store? It must be a regional thing also, I only know one person who buys Miracle Whip, and he will admit to having no sense of smell or taste. Other than him know one I know uses it (he just buys it because it's cheap). That stuff is disgusting.

Hellmann's Mayo and only Hellmann's Mayo.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Just not as much oil to qualify as mayo and have more sugar and spices.

That being said, Miracle Whip has pretty much the same stuff as Hellmann's Mayo, eggs, soybean oil, corn starch, salt, etc. As far as chemicals, Miracle Whip has potassium sorbate and calcium disodium. Mayo has calcium disodium too. Both are preservatives. Mayo has more total fat and cholesterol, but less carbs. Still a long way from being plastic like margarine is. After reading the label on margarine, we switched to real butter too. Much better taste.
