Got a three and half year old Cur lately when sleeping she has started jerking a lot.
Is this a common traits of the curs?
Had a German shepherd that had seizures had to put him down at age of 9.

I've had a lot of Cur dogs and they've never done that a lot so I don't think it's a trait in them. Maybe she's going through a stage or something has changed a lot and has her off a bit. I'm no vet but I wouldn't worry about it but would keep watching her and if it doesn't stop maybe call the vet.

We noticed this about a week ago she is around one of us most of the day.
We are going to watch her more closely for the next few days to she how she does.
Thanks Catch22.

My border collie twitches alot when sleeping and if she gets really excited she will start yipping in her sleep. Me and kids joke that she's chasing rabbits in her sleep again. When shes yipping after about 4 or 5 times she'll usually wake herself up.

When my golden sleeps his legs will start twitching, then he starts whining. I think the rabbits in his dream are getting the best of him lol

My cur runs and whimpers and barks in his sleep. Not sure what he's chasing in his dreams but he sure gets after it sometimes.

My lab/springer will borderline howl mixed with an excited growl in her sleep and jerks while shes doing it. Not when shes curled up though, just when shes sprawled out more.

I have a 10 month mountain cur and he jerks and whimpers when he is dreaming. Had labs in the past do the same thing.

Wamp, here's a pretty good article about it, hope it helps.

Pet MD, why do dogs twitch when they sleep

Cur question, Looking at getting a dog for the first time in a longtime. Looking at cur for squirrel and maybe cross for sheds. How are they tempered around kids and other animals. We have 11 beef and 3 cats in the barn.
Thanks for your help.

Our dog (heeler) moves a ton in his sleep. He twitches, "runs", whimpers, barks, sometimes his eyes open and they'll be pointed different directions or be rolled up in his head. It used to creep me out so I'd poke him to wake hum up and he'd look at me all lazily like I was some sort of jerk for waking him up. When he was a little puppy he'd making sucking motions and sounds, I assume he was dreaming about drinking puppy milk.

Mine is a people person. Gets along with my other toy dog. However, they are a high energy dog. Can’t keep them constantly boarded up in a house. They need to release that energy by exercising them daily.
