Ten inches apart , 30 inches apart on the rows , works well for me , happy corn .

I plant 2 or 3 seeds every 10 inches or so because i rarely get anywhere near 100% germination regardless of variety. If you're planting with a planter i'd think one seed every 8 inches would be good.

I do about 6-7 inches apart in the row with rows and the rows are 30 inches apart. That would give you about 32-34,000 kernels per acre which is similar to field corn in heavier soils with adequate moisture. also it is better for pollination to have blocks of shorter rows and more pollen will reach the silks. There is a silk for every future kernel. Also remember that depending upon the modified types you plant you need to isolate certain varieties in space and time.

I plant extra in the row or in the center of two rows, if some spots fail I take the extra ones and place them in the empty spot.
I found if you move them before they get 4 leaves and water it then they do well.
I take my hoe, make a hole where the empty spot is, then use my hoe to go under the plant, taking 4-5" of the soil with it and try to set the whole thing into the hole, best that corn isn't higher than rest of them, lower or the same is best, then pour rain water around transplant, soaking it good, they usually turn out good

I have terrible luck with sweet corn so I just buy the peaches and cream variety from Mennonite or Amish women along the road or at a farmers market.

No I just suck at gardening. Im handy with the livestock and I can tool on tractors or machinery but I get along best if I leave the gardening to the experts (little blue haired widow ladies or Mennonite wives LOL)

Sweet corn plate on an Earthway planter spaces seed 9 inches, and although you can vary it, I find 1" to 1 1/4" deep works pretty well. Row spacing is wide enough to get the tiller between the rows......about 28 to 30 inches. For best pollination, it helps to plant 2 or more rows side by side vs. one long single row.

A shot of 20:10:10 fertilizer broadcast at planting and get some bacillus thuringiensis ready for the corn ear worms.

There is a lot of canning sweet corn produced in WI. We are usually in the top 5 in the USA for corn for canning. The contracts typically have been with farmers by the ton per acre and some added or subtracted value based on quality. In the past as late as say 2012 etc. most firms were contracting acres and planting about 24K of seeds per acre or a tad less. They did not want to get too high of yields per acre and thus cut down on acres the can use or control. Real good yields in our area are 7-9 tons per acre. I know in better corn areas they get more. The veggie contractors review prices every year and use the corn, soybean and wheat prices or alfalfa too to pay the farmers to plant the acres. During the high prices of 2014-15 they lost acres and raised prices. With prices that we have today they have more acres then they want. Around here good average yields for corn are about 170 bushels per acre so veggie crops compete quite well.

I would say no less than 4' that way you stand less chance of getting a fork in the hand when your reaching for the salt or butter........

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I am guessing you have the most fertile soil of anyone who has posted here. All this stuff is relative as the guy who asks if a stake x inches long will hold a coyote. JMO anyway.

An older gentleman in the community does 2 rows in a row. It was recommended to me by a lady from our local ag facility when she dropped off slips.

Was just curious if any other gardeners have done it that way.
