Hey guys, I’m getting ready to treat my traps and store them away for the year. I’ve got some coyote traps that skunks got into, and they still have a very faint skunk smell to them. Should I treat them, or give them more time? I usually spray paint and dip in full metal jacket.Thanks.

I had the same problem last season. If u use 1 quart of hydrogen peroxide, quarter cup baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of dawn dish soap and mix all together and dip in that.

The custodian told me about that last year and it worked for me.

Yeah, that will work fine, but rinse them off as well when you take them out of the solution.

Shoot, I caught one and reset it and caught a possum. Pulled it and put it at my next property and caught a fox then a cat. I ain’t doing nothing to that trap. It’s sorta wore off now, but I can still pick it out. It’s actually produced at the property I’m at now.
I’m still learning, but we use or they make lure with a skunk smell, what’s the point in cleaning the trap if you use a lure/bait with a skunk smell?

Because you want the attention on the bait or lure and not the trap. I won't say you can't use skunky traps but if you ask most trappers they will say you shouldn't.
