He was a no nonsense type of man that never sought the spotlight. He had some really good stories. Lt. Gen Hal Moore also lived in our community and I was fortunate to meet him. Another highly decorated Vietnam veteran-Col Robert Howard was from Opelika Al...google his name-amazing person. Opelika and Auburn are “sister” cities. Sad to see these heroes leave us. War Eagle!
