I'm sure been thinking this is something to get into. As far as buying oil related stocks At these low low prices. A while back white 17 said No, don't do it. And I didn't. Today, crude Down about 30 40% overnight. How about now?!

Oil will remain cheap for a long time. If you want to invest in oil, I would invest only in the largest integrated companies. They will survive. Many smaller E&P companies will not. The majors will end up with their plum properties. I would want the stock price to be near the all time low before I put any of my money into an oil stock.

I have done it threw my 401k , it use to play semi- high risk to high risk 15 years ago or so and yes you can make it big fast but that said you can lose it even faster. I played around with about 5% or less at a time.
I'm over playing with oil , now I've been doing food and housing investment going ok . Precious metals are worth a peek too.

Let me sugar coat this

I'll admit it is tempting when you look at prices of multi-national companies. BUT......I still would avoid making any big commitments. It might not hurt to take a little bite but your time horizon needs to be long term. There will very likely be several bankruptcies and mergers by the time we are out of this,

Even if OPEC manages to enforce production cuts............which is very unlikely.................those cuts won't be enough to deal with the problem.

Yes there is too much supply but the problem is that demand is down 30%. It will take a long time to work off the excess in storage. In fact, we are just a couple of days away from "tank top" where there is no more storage available. Pipeline operators aren't even taking new oil for shipment because they can't get it out of the pipe and into storage. They don't want their pipelines used as a storage facility.

It may be best, if you can legally and safely do it where you live, to just buy some gasoline in bulk. If you can store 2000 gallons or so that may be the best use of your money.if you want to invest it in energy.

One further word of caution if you are considering investing through an ETF. Do NOT buy into USO.....at least not at this point in the cycle.

Just my opinion.....and probably worth what you paid for it laugh
