I just got home from the hospital this evening and there was a basket waiting for me from the tman discretionary fund. Looks like it has all kinds of designer candies and cookies and gourmet popcorn that look delicious. It may not be what the doctor would have ordered, but we won't tell him, I'm sick of seeing him anyways, lol.

For those of you that are friends with me on facebook, you've probably heard the story and have seen the gruesome before and after pics. But for those of you that don't know:

I was in a car wreck on 4/8/20. Everyone is asking what caused it... I did... by not paying attention. Enough said. Anyways, I was going 80mph on the interstate when I rolled my SUV 4-5 times down an embankment and into the woods. I had to be cut out with the jaws of life, and they wanted to LifeFlight me to the hospital but I declined and took an ambulance. "It's only a flesh wound," I said, and it was. But I guess they hooked me up with a first semester nursing student or something at the Med hospital in Memphis, because she totally botched sewing up the 10" gash on my inner thigh just above my knee.

By Easter I knew it was infected. Easter night bad storms rolled through dropping a tree tangled up in an electric line across our driveway, and so I couldn't get out until Monday evening. I went to an urgent care clinic.. they freaked out when they saw my leg and sent me to the ER. I was rushed into emergency surgery and the doctor had to cut out a section of my thigh larger than a softball. They hooked up something called a wound pump to my leg and I've been in the hospital since... for 7 days. Today I was sent home with a portable wound pump which will need to stay on for weeks longer, as the wound heals from the inside out. There is no skin left to sew it closed, so eventually I'll likely need grafts.

So anyways, that's what happened. Thanks for all the prayers, and for the goodies. I'm glad to be home.

I know all about wounds that won't heal.

Hope you recover quickly.

And here's what it looks like now after the surgeon cut all the gangrene out and attached the wound vacuum.

I'm a little confused... They had a nurse stitch you up with an injury like that?? That should be the job of a surgeon.
