Don't fool yourself gentleman, the coyote market will reflect this decision next year. Might be a really good market for the next 2 years as they stock up, but after that coyotes will jump back on the bandwagon of fur with very few homes! Just my opinion.

Rip coyote prices. It was a good run.

Was CG the ONLY buyer of quality coyotes? Seems like theres no way they could make enough jackets to support the thousands of coyotes bought for $100. Or maybe there aren't as many of those high dollar coyotes being bought as I think there are. I don't catch em, so I don't follow the market that close.

But if they're not the only buyer, saying the days of high dollar yotes is over would be like saying beef prices would tank if one fast-food restaurant shut down.

They set a trend, knock offs came along supporting the coyote market. Now with no trend, no knock offs, no knock offs no need for coyotes.

A number of trim/ruff orders have been cancelled in the last 60 days, coupled with excess inventory and a poor selling season, it all adds up.

Lots of companys use fur ruffs, good opportunity for other companys to make money-the demand is still there,as cg was making good profit before covid.
Sounds like marketing hype to help them over the slump.
Any amateur furrier can put a nice coyote ruff on a parka.Easiest thing to cut and sew.

My most profitable articles have always been hood ruffs and collars-for the last 40 years-dont see that changing at all.
People buy cheap down filled jackets and cannot believe the difference when the fake strip comes off and a nice wolf, lynx or marten one goes on.Looks like a million bucks.
I have even put lots of fur on work gauntlets for guys that work outdoors in 40 below,as well as fur collars on their work jackets-these are functional applications and have no connection to fashion.
Same with fur hats-some want the flashy long hair fur to wear at the winter carnivals, but most want beaver otter or muskrat hats for warmth and functionality for everyday use.

The original form cg wanted trappers to sign had 20 or so intrusive and nonsensicle questions not just did you follow the law. Many trappers had no problem with this, many did.

At the time CG was at the ND convention if there was a form, they didn't have it along. Did anyone ever sign a form for CG?

I will bet there are very few who did. I did have buyers tell me they were buying for Canada Goose at our first auction. But when the bidding started, they didn't buy many coyotes.

Somebody help me out here... So you're saying Canadian goose has been pretty much single-handedly supporting the Coyote market, and they are going to go to using all road killed coyotes? If you believe that, I have some oceanfront property in Ohio for you.
How are they coming up with that quantity of roadkill coyotes? And who is picking up and skinning the ugly smashed up messes?

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Sounds like they're going to reuse old ruffs, and what they have in stock. I'd bet they buy tons over the next couple years.

I was told CG has enough coyote ruffs in stock to take them a year plus. Maybe that why they are going to 2022.

But their stock will eventually run out. Then what? Will enough people pay $1500 for a coat with a "used" ruff to justify the change or will they be able to find enough to "reclaim" to keep up with demand? Doesn't seem like a sustainable business choice, but it's their choice to make, not mine.

Might allow them to lower the price of their goods in the time of covid.
