The problem with Walz's order is we are still not supposed to take unnecessary travel but sturgeon opener is upon us and those living along Rainy River will see a huge influx of people from outside our area. Koochiching county and Lake of the Woods counties have closed their accesses to the river but the state has refused to close their two accesses. Koochiching county has had only one case confirmed and LOW has had none. WE DON'T NEED OR WANT YOU COMING OUT OF THE AREA TO COME AND FISH RIGHT NOW. PLEASE STAY HOME or fish near your own home. And you sir I hope you never leave your county. Typical democrat wants to control every ones freedom!!

On a personal level this virus hasn't had any impact on me. I'm working as normal I fished like normal in March, well maybe not normal, more as I didn't have the usual March meetings.
One thing this has done is entrench my resolve to support very few local businesses around Lake of the Woods. It seems many don't want me there although I don't live that far away, yet they have no problem taking my tax money that I pay on the cabin. I pay more in school taxes in Baudette school district than I do for the one my kids go to school for and the Baudette school is ten times nicer than ours. I pay taxes on two parcels for the landfill that I'll likely use once in my life. Thank you non residents of Lake of the Woods county, ,we love your taxes just don't come here.

I have heard MN people been leaving the state by the 1000's going to other states fishing and doing other outdoor activities while their state had the lock down. I can witness some that have done that but don't get flooded with them this time of year any way. It has surprised me how little this stay at home order affected me. Still had to go to work, every store I needed to go to was still open except for the garden store. Just have to wait to get seed taters and onions. Had to use a drive thru window for picking up lunch. Otherwise I went fishing when I wanted to. Never ran out of anything I needed. I sure hope things do not get worse here in mn. Hope you all are doing well. Not sure much changed for many with the lock down and most states that had it just left and went to neighboring states the way it sounds. I have a question does your governor allowing out of state people into MN to do those same activities???? At one time hearing from people I know in MN he didn't want any out of state people coming to MN even if they owned property and to do business.

I had an email from Wyoming Fish and Game a week or so ago saying they were suspending sales of non resident fishing licenses to prohibit people from coming there to fish. I wonder if any other states will do the same thing?
I have nothing clever to put here.

You are correct MNCedar, I think the original post was intended with a heavy dose of sarcasim. That's the way I took it. Walz has aligned himself with governors who seem pretty firm about keeping people in their homes. With the exception of golf, these other things were never restricted. He has been getting a lot of pressure to open things up with demonstrations and marches to the capitol.

Meanwhile,
19,000,000 Million New York State residents are still imprisoned by Governor Adolf Cuomo.
Our alleged parole date is now scheduled for May 15th, 2020.
That is until Adolf moves the goal posts back until June 15th.
Enjoy your freedoms.

Well move...49 other States to choose from Nope, I like New York just fine. Have not found a State I like better, and that includes Alaska. At 61, I'm not looking to start over anywhere else. I'll wait for Cuomo to die, or get voted out of Office. Upstate New York ROCKS !!! w

There is about a week and a half left of the current isolation stage. So, today he has a huge press conference and announces he has teamed up with the U of M and Mayo Clinic to develop some world class testing.
It sounds to me like he is thinking months and months into the future and not on a May 4 release date.

Interesting that one of his experts stated that this is just getting rolling with only 5% of the population currently exposed. How would he know that if we are just developing the plan for agressive testing?

So,.if i'm reading this right in the media,.testing for affirmation for this is meaningless. I could test negative and stroll down the road and pick it up at the grocer or gas station. It would seem more important that a test that would determine if you have already contracted it and are therefore immune built would be be more prudent in deciding which direction to take. That is one of the routes they have been looking at and talking about. Happy trapping! ScottW
