The virus deaths in 6 weeks ,have surpassed 61/2 months of flu deaths.More deadly and faster spreading than the flu.
Lets pray for the best as things open up again. My guess is,we haven't seen anything yet.

The states and countries that didn't lock down had fewer deaths and ill.
They did the numbers figuring in percentage and total population

I think (hope) we are more collectively( not a communist statement) grin more adept at addressing this problem. A lot of countries are in bid for a cure. That's a good thing.

How do you measure that though?

I hope we dont lose a lot of people.

A lot of people will have had exposure when flu season comes back. I am hoping the worst is over.

Its a virus. It isnt going away, a cure is unlikely. Effective treatment likely is doable

Listening to all aspects from various news outlets,..one is overwhelmed with confusion! (one) should take time to look confidently on their own perception

That, and the fact that Covid-19 may never be gone as It may be present for years to come
along with other strains of seasonal Influenza that have been around forever.

Discussions now are the folks that are dying/ might die because there is no other health care procedures happening. Wife is a nurse and the admin up top are prepping them with more money as once this economy opens back there will be an onslaught of medical patients that have put off regular procedures.
This event has changed the way we will do things.

It will never end. Lock downs will not stop it. It may slow it some, at best. Open it up. If you want to stay locked up for the rest of your life go for it.

Not saying your wrong Easy to stay inside with this kinda weather lets see what happens when when the temps get in the 70's or walk into the grocery store and find empty shelves because of long term shut downs not just panic buying
What are you gonna say when available food supplies are diverted to metro areas cause they need it more like medical supplies are now
Ya I know we'll all be singing "Hank Williams Jr."

I'm not sure what the rest of you are seeing but the biggest challenge I had yesterday was finding a place to park at Menards. Stores are jammed with people, streets are full of cars. looks like business as usual around here except about half the people you see in stores are wearing masks. There are no cases in this part of the state so maybe that has something to do with it. Plus most people around here don't trust the media. If the subject comes up among people, most just shake their head and say they think this is all ridiculous. There's a huge gap between the country and the city, the way people view these things, and the amount of fear.

The facts are that it is:
  • here
  • spreads like mad
  • is unstoppable
  • leaves bodies in its wake
  • a huge percentage of those bodies are within known parameters
The question is what do we do about it? If we all hide, it just waits for us to come out. How about if we provide a safe environment for our vulnerable, and the rest of us cautiously carry on the work of the world?

Three of these four can actually be quantified. Perhaps number 2 could be put in perspective by reporting the number of people tested.
