Well, its official now. Season seven of Alone premiers on June 11 and will include fellow trapper and good friend of mine Kielyn Maronne.

I spent a week this past February with her and her husband Dave trapping on their line out near Espanola Ontario.

We were trapping beaver, fisher, marten and otter, and we were setting in preparation for a winter Life on the Trapline course they were running for eight participants. We later checked traps over the span of a week and a half and ended up with 23 beaver, 3 fisher, an otter and 2 marten. Lots of fun, and the group learned a lot and had fun.

Tune into season 7 of Alone in June to see if she has what it takes!

Where are they dropping her off?

Not sure. I think she can tell us she is on it, but not much about it till it comes out.

Her and her husband have been trapping now for about three years.

www.lureofthenorth.com is their website and business. Check it out.

There have been some ppl on that show that had some serious skills. The skinny guy that shriveled up eating moose would have been fine if the wolverines hadn't gotten to his fat stores

On our trip we caught the beaver, butchered and ate it out on the line, etc. Their company teaches human powered traditional winter camping and wilderness living.

The second part of the course teaches people how to brain tan the hides, and make soap from the fat. They live and run their business off grid, and milled all their own lumber and built their three story place themselves. Did a darn good job too.

She has the skills so long as she can keep the inevitable head games to a minimum.

I will plan on rooting for her to do well. A million bucks could probably go a long ways on a homestead like that.

Has anyone ever seen a list of acceptable gear / items they can bring? After and axe, a modern sparking device, and a tarp I might be included to go with a body gripper or a few snares myself.

I enjoyed the last season. It's the only survival show I watch all the episodes of. Jordan had it cold, though, they made it look close, but he wasn't in any real danger of starving.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I can't add much more to this thread, since I have only seen about ten mins of one episode ever.

I tend to agree, I think his run would have been hard for anybody to compete with no matter who they are. I think his moral and comfort levels, however; couldn't have been hurt by a little fat in his diet. Some will say he got lucky a few times and maybe he did. I like to think he is savy enough to put himself in a position to get lucky (think moose alarms when the animal was headed for point blank range). Im going to guess he is a good hand no matter where you dump him off at.

Just my 2 cents anyway

Leftlane, no modern traps, no cable. You can take a 3 lb roll of 20 ga wire.

Newhouse, I'd trade quite a few items on that list for a half dozen 220s or 280s! Or a big roll of 1/16 or 5/32 snare wire and two hundred ferrules. I don't know the rules of the show, but with a big ol roll of cable they'd come find me and I'd be in the middle of moving camp for the fifth time because Id run out of mammals to trap and would have a fully furnished tipi from trading with the local indigenous people. lol.

A 3 lb roll of 20 ga wire isn't bad I guess.
