No coyotes here,same as ranch fur-dont affect me directly.

They tried to support trappers and the fur industry but many rejected their efforts so It does not surprise me too much that they finally said to h--- with wild fur.

Is this a change from their other announcement to use "reclaimed" fur?

Really no big real surprise I do not think anybody looking would seen this coming a long way off .

Final nail in the fur market coffin, has been the perfect storm this past year to kill what little market was left out there.

My thinking the fur industry is done in a lot of ways at least short term. The only demand has been for coyote and better cat everything else we have been giving away. The virus issue is not going to be over soon and its cost a lot of folks a fortune in lost revenue and also lives. Shipping fur is going to be problematic at best and there is all ready a glut of fur on the market. I don't see anything much positive for fur with the exception of the ranch fur is in the dumps but even with that there is a glut of ranched fur to be sold yet. About the only thing we could do is stop trapping for a bit to keep the supply from increasing. I doubt that will happen the coon market has been in the dumps save the heavy best coon and guys keep trapping them. I don't plan on trapping next year just not worth it.

The fur market will come full circle when the big dressing plants close their doors.
Then it will be like back in the 1920's when the wild fur buisness was in its hayday,with all the small furriers in the cities like montreal and nyc buying raw fur directly from trappers and dressing those furs in house and making fur garments.
Every small town had a fur shop on main street.In the future the fur shops will be anywhere and sales will be on the internut.

One big difference between now and then fur was not protested like today.

Thats not a problem for the mom and pop shops selling on the internet.
There is still a great demand for fur in colder climate countries.
Russia's fur market,especially the hat market is and always has been mom and pop shops.
Good support for those products here,in fact demand far outstrips supply.

Glad to see you being optimistic about fur Boco. Your about the only one, Everyone else that posted on this thread thinks they are a prophet about the fur industry. And yes, it ain't good, but I don't understand why everyone on here wants to predict the end of the business. Fur market has always been this way, Since I was a kid, I've watched about every specie have it's heyday. I wish you would try and put a decent spin on it, our livelyhood is at stake. If we put as much effort into fighting antis as we do fighting with each other, we would win a few more battles! Carry on!

All the mom and pop shops in the world can't force younger people to embrace fur. They have been bombarded by our education system, public perception, and AR propaganda, with the message that using animal products is BAD, since they could walk and talk. That trend can be broken, but its not happening over night.

Not everywhere is like the USA-a lot of fur still worn in a lot of other countries.My percentage of sales to local fur sewers has not changed.Might have to shift more fur that way away from the auction house.
