Your lucky.....got my first one @53... i was feeling fine...doing it just because. Well ...the doc said ,thank god you didn’t put this off for another couple years...or we’d have some problems. Been on the 3 year plan....no problems now ,10 years later.

Glad you are doing well! It's stories like yours that prompted me to do it in the first place.

If you got good handle on your family history your probably ok skipping the scope at 50????
If your like me didn't know my family history (sucked) felt fine always running gun full speed ahead.
I never went until 57 when the engine lite came on as you say.
Well I now have a scar runs from just below my left nipple to just about my belt line.. Been gutted like a fish and literally lost my arse as they say..
I will never know if going at 50 would have changed that..But was my choice not complaining still kicking, could have been a dirt nap too.
I will say though.
Get your butt to doc at 50 it's not that hard..unless your very up to speed on family history. Then it can still be a CRAP Shoot.. LOL..

Tell-em Mac sent ya :-)

I'm with woodtick. At age 73, only been to doctor for stiches, casts, and the legally required physicals to fly and drive.

I figure I know this body as well as any stranger. I'll admit, that one of these days I'll need to get my hernia patched up, but, I can't afford the downtime that it will involve.

At least you get a Physical....I would hope a truck driver and pilot would be in some sort of good health...numbers wise..

Guy's over 50 should also have yearly PSA tests. I had a friend that died with prostate cancer, before he died he told me , get your prostate tests done, wish I had. . I started yearly tests , they stayed the same for several years then started to increase, They caught mine early, 42 radiation treatments and 6 bouts of chemo. Hope it is behind me. That was 10 years ago. Remember one in eight men will have some form of prostate cancer, in their lifetime. That is slightly better odds than Russian roulette. My PSA count has been zero for the last ten years, What is yours? Not something men want to talk about, but glad I did. old 243

Those physicals could have saved you if there had been issues.
My wife had been hounding me to get a physical for years and I blew it off. She always did, and hers caught her breast cancer early enough that the docs figured she would be ok after surgery. Been a year and thankfully cancer free. I get my yearly physical now too.

Those saying they won’t get a colonoscopy until they have symptoms is beyond me. It’s usually to late by then. My older brother didn’t even think about getting one, in his mid 40’s. That’s why I say go then. He went and had one at 48. Too late, he never had symptoms until then. My brother died at the ripe old age of 50.

Colon cancer doesn’t run in our family either. Do ya know what kills most men? Stubbornness.

Remember, more men die with prostrate cancer than from prostrate cancer.

About the only Doc I go to is for my endoscopies and colonoscopies. Get them every couple of years due to Barrets. Guess I’m the only one that looks forward to that seriously deep sleep!! Don’t care for the prep...but that rest is always much needed!

My dad built his last house when he was 84. He was a tight arse and tore down two old houses to use the lumber for the new one. Guess I come by it naturally!
