Looks like a hognose to me. They can flare their neck like a cobra to emphasize those eye spots and roll over and play dead if I remember right.

Was thinking the same. Their coloration and markings can vary in brightness a bit.

Rat tree snake ? Hognose snakes, must be rare, I don't know much them, I had a black rat tree snake. Come swim up river an come up a vertical undermine bank that at least 20 ft high, to get at fish that see me real in, had lay on bank, an just land it. Threw a limb at snake. Snake jump top limb, threw limb in water. Snake back in less minute, left snake have fish an left. Underneath railroad bridge close by, good fishing but loaded snakes. In water swimming, could be rattlesnake, some Them

I think Adam Pelosi-Schumer would be a good name for a snake.

Seen hognose in olive drab, black and a camo color very similar to the pic. Used to see them a lot when I was a kid.

I'm itchin' to see a coyote twitchin'.

More trappin' and less yappin'.

Nose ain't righrt for a hognose snake. Don't appear to have a 'rooter'. smile

Possum snake.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Don't think it's a hog nose but have no idea what.

I agree Chas. Nose doesn’t look correct.

Bob, I name him Bob. laugh
The coloration looks a lot like some of the copperheads around here. Head looks to be shaped wrong, but that may be the pic. If he has cat's eyes and the bottom scales behind the vent are one scale across instead of split with two is is copperhead. If pupils are round and bottom scales are split into two rows behind vent he is harmless. wink

REFERENCE: Snakes of Wisconsin by Wisconsin DNR- http://www.uncledavesenterprise.com/file/wisconsin/snakes/Snakes%20of%20Wisconsin.pdf

The closest I can find is the Brown Snake or DeKay's Snake (Storeria dekayi).

Looks more like a hognose snake than a brown or DeKays. I still think it's a hognose snake.
