Getting to be that time of year..
Anyone been out planting yet?
I have some Norway Spruce on order this year (not many).
I used to order from WDNR, but their minimum quantities are too high in my opinion.
I find tree planting rewarding & enjoyable.
With all the tree diseases nowadays, I try hard for tree diversity on my property.

I just got a notice that my order will be in next Friday. Weather permitting I should be planting on Saturday.

I'll be transplanting some. I usually buy some, but then after I get them planted I dig up some pines on thick areas of my property & move them to where I want some new growth.

Done kilt at least 20 pecans trying to get em started here. Gonna try to bucket raise em until fall then transplant.

I planted around 60 pear cuttings I treated with rooting hormone today. I don't know if they will root or not.

I've heard the same thing from an arborist. Good advice.

I usually plant a couple of trees around my yard. This year I am going to try grafting . I winter pruned my apple trees, they hadn't been done for a while . Kept some dormant twigs , sines, from my yellow transparent tree. going to graft unto several , other's. Have some trees along my fencerows, The deer might like some harvest apples too. Anyone try grafting. Lots of info online. old243

If you bought a real nice $50 tree and dug a $5 hole , your results would vary.
Better to have a $10 tree and dig a $100 hole , you will get better results than with the latter. That is the way the arborist explained it to me.
