Another consequence of the COVID-19 shutdown. I broke a tooth in late March. Yea, all the dentists are shutdown so I have been begging my Dentist to refer me to an oral surgeon that is doing emergency procedures ever since. This week I finally convinced him and had the tooth pulled Thursday. Been taking penicillin for a month but by now it is infected. I thought I was tough but I guess not. He gave me the option of being knocked out or just a local. I've had teeth pulled before and it never bothered me so I went for that. Mistake! Oh my God! I stopped him halfway and said I didn't know if I could take it. He said he almost had it so I gave him the go ahead. Lucky I had a friend drive me because there is no way I could have driven. She is an RN and said she thought he missed the nerve with the shot. I took two Vicodins and 3 ibuprofens and then proceeded to pace the floor for 5 hours. Son of a gun is still hurting and the meds make me sick to boot. Sure glad I did not live before painkillers were invented.
Tooth pain is bad, especially an abscessed/infected. Feels good after its out an healed if you had to live with it for a while. You should have been tough like Yukon Jeff and pulled it yourself with a vicegrip.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
Hopefully you get feeling better.Last year had to have 7 teeth pulled and jaw cut all in the same day. Then 2 days later 4 more pulled and other side of jaw cut.
Ouch. That doesn't sound fun. I broke a tooth late March as well, the day before dentists shut down. Keeping it Clea. And hoping for the best. If that doesn't work out...

Sounds like you have a condition called"dry socket". The blood clot that forms where the tooth was removed...becomes dislodged . The clot is protective and forms the basis for the new bone.
OTC pain meds won't cut it .
Here is a quote from the Mayo Clinic in reference to dry sockets
"If you develop new or worsening pain in the days after your tooth extraction, contact your dentist or oral surgeon immediately."
I've had a broken molar for about 6 months now. Keep waiting for it just to rot out on its own.
I don't think that is going to work out well. I was feeling all kinds of sick from the infection before I had the tooth pulled. I advise to get it taken care of as soon as you can.
