I tie flies, have since the '70s, crappie jigs are very simple, but I've never found it economical to tie them. Need jig head hooks, chenile or baby yarn, marabou feathers and thread, and you will need a way to hold the hook= vise.
Some other basic fly tying tools would be useful; scissors, bobbin/spool holder, whip finish tool- but not absolutely necessary.
I don't find it beneficial to paint jigs or to eye them, most of what goes into lure/fly/jig making is to catch the fisherman rather than the fish.
I've never made pictures of my flies so can't post any.

Made a crap ton of deer tail jigs when I was younger.
Buying tools separate rather than kits was quickly seen to be the way.
Bobbin, vice, hair stacker, jig mold, ladle were my main tools.
Tied flies too, leaning to match the hatch made me better angler.

Got bit by the bug since retired. Mine are butt ugly but hope to improve. There are tons of how to videos on Youtube and get most my supplies off Ebay.
