AnthonyT OP trapper A Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 1,601 KY	Three weeks ago I could hardly stand and was in the hospital with pancreatitis. Today I got my first turkey of the season! There is no long story of how I called him in from 500 yards over 3 hours - I totally bushwhacked him, I'm not a turkey hunting purist, if I can ambush one I will. Total time of the hunt was about 30 seconds. It took me longer to put on my boots, grab my gun and get out the door. He was around 20 pounds, 10.5" beard, 3/4" spurs, a good solid 2 year old tom.

AnthonyT OP trapper A Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 1,601 KY	The gun is an old Remington 870 Express, 28" barrel with a factory Extra Full Turkey Rem Choke. That gun has killed a pile of turkeys, some sandhill cranes and a ton of ducks. I know a lot of guys who think you have to have some specialized turkey gun to kill a turkey. All you need is a gun that patterns well with a given load. I was using 3" Winchester Longbeard XRs #5 shot this year. For some reason this gun and choke pattern a lot of Winchester loads really well.
