Muscle spasms
I've been getting a lot of them recently. Always when I draw up my legs while in bed. Straightening them out makes it slowly go away.
I'd go to the dr any other time.
I used to get them back in the olden days like when I tried to play rugby but alcohol consumption helped then. It'd probably kill me today. LOL
Any of you older guys have them?

I get them more frequently ever since I was put on a sodium restriction.

When I work hard I have them, I eat the following which I think helps but its honestly speculation. Bananas, pickles, powerade. Seems to help me.

I keep a few packets of yellow mustard right next to my alarm clock. Does the trick for me. I also remember the days of rugby and alcohol consumption, but I was 8 ft. tall and bulletproof then!

Yes on the statins but not recently.
I usually drink 25 cups of water in the form of tea a day Even more in the form of soda etc. A couple of beers now and then.
I've a phone cardiologist apt tomorrow . I'll ask about that.

I was told Charlie horses and leg cramps were a potassium deficiency so that gives me an excuse to eat bananas

I get leg cramps pretty bad sometimes, especially after climbing tree stands at the first of hunting season, working off ladders, etc.. It's just like AKA said, the cramp is frequently at night while in bed asleep. The muscle that cramps is on the back of my thigh. The cramps come on so sudden and are so painful that I will leap up out of bed trying to straighten the leg and muscle. It is a very intense pain. Sometimes it takes 5 to 15 minutes to get it worked out. Maybe a mouthful of mustard tastes so bad that you forget all about the painful cramp.

I get those at night.....A trick that works for me is this. I lift me heel up and push my toes down into the floor.....usually takes care of the pain after a couple seconds or so.... never heard of the mustard thing. And with type II , I probably drink more water than any normal person should .
