Do any of you have auxiliary reverse lights on your vehicles? The stock lights on my 09 GMC Canyon (the ones below the brake lights) are pretty much useless for backing up in the dark. I've been thinking of adding a pair of reverse lights to brighten things up a bit. Looking for some suggestions.

My truck doesn't have a ton of clearance to begin with, so hanging lights off the bottom of the bumper might not work when I do get off the main road. I see there are mounting brackets that go on the hitch receiver, that's probably the way I'll go.

Who's got em, what brand/model do you like, and anything I should know about before putting then on?

My 66 Chevy P/U has them mounted in the rear of the fender well. They don't help much though. Maybe some modern ones would work better

Mine is similar to this;

Just be a man tiguy and back up. If ya hear a thud, ya went to far lol.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Been there, done that! But that was because my vision was impeded by a camper or a full bed. Seems like that's a pretty common method though, based on the number of vehicles I see with dents in the tailgates and rear bumpers.

If you have the standard 4 plug trailer plug on your rig get that strip light that glues on the tailgate that should work fine, $30 for one.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I have a pair of 4" Nilights led flush mount lights in my rear bumper I ordered off of Amazon about 3 years ago. I have been more than pleased with them.

Hook up the spotlights facing backwards like wreckers. Put it on a toggle switch.

Ck out Americantrucks.com. I saw a really bright replacement bulb for your reverse lights somewhere and I think it was here.

I hadn't considered swapping the bulbs for LEDs. I'll give that a shot first and see how it works. Thanks guys!

I used to just get cheap add-on fog lights and attach them to the square hitch frame. I'd wire them hot all the time so I could have light out back whenever I needed it. Just have to remember to turn them off.

If you go that route, make sure to wire in a relay.

I've always had a topper on my trucks..don't have a extra light on the truck I have now. Did have them on my past trucks. I used then Halogen fog lights mounted up high like cargo lite on back cabs.. that way it would work as back up light and also handy when loading thing in boat in dark. If I was to put one on my current truck i go LED.. Mine were switched on a three way set up. could turn it off and on from cab or in back of topper.
My brother uses a extra pin on his trailer plug and has back up light on his boat trailer. That is kinda handy and I've thought of doing that.

I have sure though about it lots of times , just never got around to actually doing it.

I have been looking at these thinking of putting them off the back of the topper as work/backup lights and just putting them on a switch in the dash , I have a spare switch that used to do the strobe next to my rotary beacon switch I would just wire it in there. probably a switch with a pilot light when it is on
