Indiana boy here. We were planning, wife and 3 daughters, (before you know what) on going to Fort Myers Beach starting July 5th. I am thinking about going ahead and making reservations (that I can cancel). You guys think things will be a little better by then? My crystal ball ain't been working so good! LOL!

I think Florida is one of the states that's reopening, isn't it?

I think 10 million people tired of being stuck at home will be traveling to Florida. There must be some other nice place to go. Or bank the money and have twice as great a vacation next year.

I thought northern folks went to Florida in the winter, not during the summer heat wave. smile

I went to Florida once at the end of July for a week. I hated the heat and especially the humidity and could not wait to go back north. Of course, if that is your thing go for it.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm not a "beach person", but I drug everyone to Yellowstone National Park on our last vacation. I'm also outnumbered 4-1,so it is what it is! LOL

Why all the way down to Fort Myers? You'll be driving by several nice beaches.

If you want to see manatees, then go in January. When the water warms up, they will be scattered all over and you will most likely only see a few, if any. Crystal River had a pot load in January of '19. Talked to locals and they saw very few in December because the water was so warm.

Some beaches opened in Florida.
Your family may be safer staying at Hotel with private beach & swimming pool. Just a suggestion.
Stop by the Henry Ford estate & Thomas Edison estate in Fort Myers.

I was at my brother's home in Fort Myers, in early March. Sister lives in Venice. Another sister is snowbird to Ft. Myers each winter.
Brother & sister have home rentals in Fort Myers, if interested.

Gulf shores first of JUNE !!! IF they are open we're there. WE stock up on groceries , cook in the condo and lay on the beach., A VACATION !!! Not running around shopping and seeing how many different places we can go. THE out doors and SUNSHINE are the safest place you can be. THe experts have all along said this is an INSIDE illness......
