I was at work when my wife sent me 9 text messages 3 pictures. It seems my 7 year old took his small long bow out back today and managed to stalk a Jake and kill it with a head shot today. He saw it in the back field and asked his mom to get him a shotgun and she told him no. Then he went to my daughter and asked her. She said no. So he headed out with his bow( even though his mom told him not to shoot the Turkey) she was mad because she doesn't know how to clean it and he didn't listen. My 18 year old daughter breasted it out for him. Unfortunately she tossed the rest of the carcass in the boiler and did not save the tail, spurs, or little beard.

He was wearing play clothes red shorts blaze orange shirt and blue rubber boots. Its maybe a 15lb cheap long bow. It was unexpected I quickly checked the Turkey archery regs. Nothing said other than a bow and arrow. No min draw weight or broadhead required so everything was legal.

I'm one suprised and proud dad.

Wow that’s a great story

He will remember that forever, and that should really boost his confidence and hopefully hook him for life 👍

That’s a great story. I’d take that over ten of the..... “ I killed a 28 pound, 1 1/2 inch spurs, 11 inch beard bird “ tales any day. Congrats.

Are you allowed to bait them like that?
When I was 4 or so we raised turkeys free range on the farm.
They would all come after me when I went outside in my little blue coat & hat.

He did a great job! It isn't easy killing a turkey with an arrow. A head shot is as good as it goes.

I must be a hard arse. If my wife told my grandson not to shoot something, and he did it anyway, he would lose his bow, lose his bb gun, and anything else that fires projectiles for a year.

She did ground him from both his bow and rifles. (I think she forgot sling shots and spears thought) won't be for very long since its skill building time of year.
She only told him no because she has not cleaned a Turkey before. She as also is nor happy when his traps are full when in away at work.

Yes he was wrong for not listening. But I'm still darn proud of his accomplishment. I listened to a 45 year old guy at work talk for 15min all about his stalk on a gobbler through the wood down in ditches complet with imitating ducking and crawling ect.... it culminated with him missing it with a shotgun at 45 yards. I didn't know if I should tell him my 7 year old stalked and killed one with a 15lb sightless kids bow 100% on his own. I thought it might be rude.
