35 and snowing in the Black Hills today but the next 3 days should be sweet the roads are 90% open 5% bad and 5% hairy, perfect if you can get through the “should not go spots” not many have been there before me this year. Now to come up with a battle plan for the morning.

Found a room $129.00 for 3 days total not bad with with 2 queen beds a clean place nicer then I expected a nice place really.

1 in WI 2nd day worked a few the 2nd week buddy got his 2nd week spent a few days at home headed to the Black Hills worked one on a ridge today for an hour but he never came closer then 80 yards but he was hammering his head off. Seem some jakes and hens after that but passed heading out now after my power snooze to try again.

Buddy missed one this morning he’s using a fold up 20ga if he had his 870 the bird would of been his. The Toyota is doing it’s magic walks right through the drifts still on the roads, dragging the frame in some spots.

Seen 9 birds, 4 elk, a yote, lots of deer and rock chucks today. Pulled some drunk out of a snow bank he said he was going camping? LOL He might make the news this week no camping gear that I could see, busting drifts with a 2WD open rear end Chevy S10 sporting highway tires.

Spotted 2 gobblers on the way out the wind was howling in the afternoon no way to work them will see if they are around on the morning.

Are the birds talking or tight lipped? Lots of gobbling here now, last night had them gobblers are hot and bothered while I was fishing. Lol

Seen 2 gobblers together no hens seen 1 with 1 hen and hens and jakes together somewhat broken up it looked like, this high country is just opening up now did not see another hunter in 2 days.

Score 1 and 1 to go for the Hills birds I hope to get #2 in the morning. The one today took a hour to come in he would not close the last 60 yards but he would not leave, it ended up he had a hen he would not leave. I had to scoot down to him when I was at 50 yards and called he came in then.

Full tail but a short beard on the thing.

Good for you, Law Dog! The last year I hunted the Black Hills we got hit with a snowstorm that left thigh-deep drifts and my snowshoes were at home.
