This was no speak-easy. Plenty of signs and advertising. He did 30 haircuts before the big bad state shut him down again.

Governor Tim Walz says the punishment is just beginning. He claims this barber stands to be crucified by the public when YELP gets done with him.

I'll bet the poor guy is shaking in his boots.

I wonder how many states will consider governors non-essential b4 this thing gets over with.

No mention of the barber shop or Clearwater resturant in the Tribune.............. Guess this is the kind of news that does not fit their agenda.

Big article in the Trib about fishing opener, urging folks to fish close to home, no overnight trips, bring everything you need from home. This after allowing resorts and bait shops to open?

I wouldn’t want to be camping this weekend with temps in the 20’s and campfire restrictions at campgrounds in place anyway.

I have nothing clever to put here.

What was the point of allowing resorts to open if no one rents a cabin or buys anthing when they are there?

That way they can still collect property taxes and license fees.

Fishing license sales are through the roof this spring.
Meanwhile Fisheries employees have been locked down, not able to take eggs or conduct any assessment work.

What kills me is yesterday I was in Walmart. The store was packed. I had to park about 150 yards from the store. The self-check out area was about 20'X20' with about 25 people crowded together practically touching each other same as the regular check out lines. And that's OK because they sell food making them essential.

But, the small clothing store, restaurants, etc, can't be open because of being non-essential and social distancing.

From what I saw yesterday at Walmart, they are by far a bigger risk of spreading the virus than these other so called non-essentials.

Our governor either has a hidden agenda or lacks common sense; probably guilty of both.

I suspect it is both, AND MORE. I would include cowardice.

What if those "non-essential" businesses started selling flour or rice? Barbershop sells a cup of flour for $15 and you get a free haircut.

Barber shops opened up here in TN yesterday and I finally got mine cut. My barber said he was getting calls from travelers heading up and down I24 from out of state looking for a haircut on their way thru the state. He had taken care of guys from Kentucky,Indiana and Illinois so far and they were taking pictures in front of his shop. Crazy times.

WalMart has pharmacies,so that why they were considered essential. Had to go to the one in Hudson to pick up a prescription for my wife.Dumb idiots stopping in the main aisle blocking others from keeping any kind of distance. I got my RX and got the heck out of there. To many people are just plain dumb.

Who started the rumor that these ineffective virology measures are effective?

I went to my orthodontist yesterday (finally opened back up) and as I was checking in, a mom with three children was checking out. When the receptionist, herself masked up and trying to just be a good employee asked the mom if she's like a card with the new appointment time? The mom's answer surprised me. She told the receptionist, "Dear God no. I don't want to touch anything you've touched."

Sad. So it has begun. Paranoia. The crazy mis-educated are now fearful of anyone else.
I ain't playing. I didn't wear a mask (ineffective), didn't stand a mile away (ineffective) and I touched the card when I checked out.

Tom, brother, you have succumbed to the mis-information from scientists who are money and power driven only brother. Don't let 'em own you bro.
You make lure for goodness sake. I bet there's bacteria in those bottles far more powerful than SARS, especially if you've played around with tainted. That Escherichia coli (normal stomach flora) is ripe for killing but you don't die when it stinks up your stinky room cause you're immune system is working.

Now, if you are immunocompromised I might think differently, but C-19 wouldn't make me think any more differently.

Self-test in the mask. Pour out stinky lure. Put mask on. Smell lure. Do you smell lure? If yes, throw away mask! tired

To be clear:

The barber shop I am referring to, had nothing in common with Bogmaster's experience at Walmart.
  • The clients were screened before entering
  • The chairs were separated
  • The barbers were wearing masks and gloves
  • The clients were wearing masks
  • Capes and surfaces were sanitized between clients.
Personally I think some of those precautions are more psychological than physically effective. Still, that is the kind of thing we need to get our world back on track.

Agreed T Rex. This obviously can't go on forever so the above precautions (whether you agree with them or not) were clearly in place. I'm sure the govt will implement something very similar when they do start to open things up...(but acceptable when it under their direction???)

Walz is wrong about the barber yelp reviews. Most of the people are over this thing. All you have to do is go to any business that's open (or State park) to see that.

I bet there aren't any barber clippers on the shelves anymore. I know one guy who just ventured out to the barn and grabbed the sheep sheers. I see a lot of kids running around nowadays with Buzz cuts. (.High speed/low drag and cooler for the summer, anyhow)

Some people have paid the resorts in full for their vacations months maybe even a year in advance. I have a houseboat rented the week memorial day that has been paid in full since we left last year. Don't know yet if we will be able to even go.
