Who all takes baby Aspirin daily to reduce their chances of a heart attack? I'm only 29 but I've taken 162 mg of Aspirin daily for about a year now just because heart attacks are prevelant on my dad's side of the family and since I already had an ablation for a-fib when I was 23, I'm deathly afraid of having a heart attack. My theory is, it's better if I start keeping my blood on the thinner side now. I figure it might keep me trappin' for a few extra years. Anybody else? Particularly younger people?

I take one every day also . I have a strong family history of heart disease on both sides of my family . Went in about seven years ago just for a physical and they found 3 blockages . Three days latter triple bypass .

I do. I am 67. I have close buddy, healthy as a horse, who suddenly had a stroke and he's at least 10 years younger than I am. He came through it just fine, but his Doc highly recommended he take a baby aspirin every day. I have done a lot of reading on it and it makes sense, especially since my older brother, who was built quite similar to me, had a stroke and heart issues. Dementia eventually did him in.

Have you talked to your doctor about the dosage you are using ? I only ask because my heart doctor had me on blood thinner for Afib and switched me to a high dose of aspirin ( 325 mg I think ) after I quit the blood thinner. After being released by the cardiologist my regular doctor had a fit about dosage of aspirin I was using and told me to only take 80 mg a day and to take that before bed .

My s-I-l has taken 1 a day for the last 3 years. She takes them to ward off blood clots.

I do the 80 a day and was having trouble bleeding like a stuck hog, if I nicked myself.
Neighbor told me to try it before bed.
Fixed it.

I'm 49, had afib episodes for 15+ years, had an ablation 3 months ago. Been on a baby aspirin for years.

I am on prescribed daily lo dose aspirin. Have been for several years. Was on regular aspirin before my ablation that solved the intermittent a-fib because I refused to take the other common blood thinners. Ablation was one of the best health decisions I have made. Got me off the high powered meds that were only partially effective in controlling the a-fib.

At 65 I take the 80 mg daily per my Dr. recommendation. Here is how it works as i understand it. Deposits in your arteries leading to your heart often don't cause you any problem unless or until a rush of blood from exertion rips loose the leading edge of the deposit. If that happens the flap that came loose blocks much of the flow through the artery (like a check valve). Platelets back up behind the flap and can form a clot that will block the rest of the flow and the heart muscle fed by that artery will begin to die. The blood thinning effect of the baby aspirin is enough to prevent clotting such that enough blood leaks by to keep the heart muscle alive until medical intervention can get the artery open again. It doesn't take so much at this point since you have collapsed and are no longer exerting yourself.

I take a low dosage tablet every day plus a blood thinner.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

At supper time I take 81 mg of aspirin and a 20 mg dosage of Atorvastatin to lower cholesterol. Have done this for 8 years daily.

I take a baby aspirin daily. No heart trouble but blockages run on both sides of my family. My Dad and his brother both had a stent put in when they were 45. I'm 39.

I take a baby aspirin daily except for 3 days per month when I quit to give platelets. Been doing this for 6 years, was taking full 325 mg for 1.5 years before that.
