Its not up yet. Dirt I do not like how they post the averages in there sale report either its misleading until you read the disclaimer at the bottom "Averages are sundry owner, 1st Section pelts only unless stated otherwise."

So yeah they only post the averages for the better fur.

Will put a plug in here defending them, live in the same province as them and they have shutdown everything, its slowly opening back up but not quickly. This was the first time they have posted the PT catalogue after an auction I can remember, so that was more information then usually available. If your looking for some averages all the accounts have been upgraded and have seen people on here ask about averages before and get answers from individual trappers.

Checks are being cut next week they might have it up after that.

Is the NAFA bankruptcy team working from home as well or just not working...?

FHA should move part of their operation to SOuth Dakota so they could get their paper work done faster. We didn't close down and we've never had a prancer like Justin Trudeau and never will...

Is it possible they didn't sell enough fur at the sale to justify a sold catalog? With the private treaty prices maybe their to embarrassed? Just asking for a friend, no really.

Wonder what this fall well bring, I wouldn't sell finish coon for $4-$5 average. I hope I never get that desperate , I guess. I would hold in freezer, wonder what speculaters do with mink? They get stale in freezer, or are they sold into novelty trade ?

coonman220: In a nutshell, things are going to get worse before they get better. Past time to develope a three year plan on how to either continue to trap fur, or get efficient at pickin up cans. If your committed to kill valueless mink, pay attention to Boco's small skins tanning thread. Skin em with the feet, tan em and peddle em. Coons, Id put up, roll up and leave the tail hangin out for a wick. Lot of BTUs in a coonhide.
I am a fan of Wayne Negus quote: "
Hope springs eternal, in the breast of a trapper". BUT, show me just one economic indicator that would justify Hope that this fur market will improve by even August, let alone next fall.
Good Luck to all

Dirt, I think you keep asking for info that FHA has never offered. Didnt need to. All the info you need is offered on your account, or their website. Couple that with a fur producers earto the ground intell on world economics, and interest in other auctions should give any producer the clearest veiw of any fur market crystal ball, because its your conclusion of the market, based on your parameters. No BS involved just your opinion on market. Rear up
On your hind legs and look around. I have no computer, I have no TV. I take no news papers. But yet, I find all I need to make my fur market decisions. Then I move on.
I remember the days when I didnt even know the date of FHAs sale. Just one day Their check and letter showed up in the mail.

Tanning and selling hides may work for Boco but for us In the lower 48 It's going to be a real stretch to make any money. You have a bunch of money tied up and your chances of selling any mink is a big maybe.

Do ADC work and get paid for your effort.

No embarrassment for anyone trying to keep a business going in these very recent times.

I don't need a lecture. Just whining so FHA might put their Sold Catalog on their website like they have been doing since 2015. I want some info. Do I need it today, no. Someday would be nice. I'm not wasting my breath saying why I want them to do this.

As far as getting stuff done during this Corona nonsense. I have been getting stuff done through all this nonsense.

That given, they may have a strategic reason for not doing this, and if it is a good reason that will improve prices, I'd ignore me.

I took some of the friendly advice. " All I need to know is on the FHA website in my account and the Auction results." I got " mainly unsold" and "unsold to be reoffered" to work with. I'm kind of looking for what I can send them that will sell under" sold catalog".

I think our whining is falling on deaf ears.
There Is a reason for holding back the over all results of the sale and It has nothing to do with trying to increase fur prices.
The people that bought the fur know what they paid why doesn't the seller know. .

In my opinion It's one of two things. Either they don't have the technology to get It done In a timely fashion. Or they don't want to scare off potential shippers do to low sale prices from the March sale. You be the judge.

We need FHA but they need to be more open with the trapper. If that were to happen I think that the trapper even during bad times would feel more at ease shipping fur to FHA.

Dirt: yea, when I see "mainly unsold to be re offered" that tells me there in very little interest in that article in the international auction world. That tells me to curb production, or market somewhere else. In the mean time, I would always try to be lookin around watching for improvement.
I have had a love/hate relationship with FHA pretty much my whole carreer. That is the nature of this business. I guess. I have not shipped a single pelt to FHA in 8 or 9 seasons. Because the market has been so unsettled, and I would give up all control.
That being said, odds are that I will use them in the future. If they survive this market in the next few seasons.
Good Luck

PS I have never shipped to NAFA. I personally took them to be shysters.
With the exception of one sale. Several seasons ago, Trappers were shipping coyotes and getting HVY grades for weak coyotes. NAFA was manipulating the grade to try to scam buyers. Course I wanted to play, problem was I only had two coyotes left buried in the freezer. Put em up and shipped them for the next sale. Course by then they had been called on their gradeing scheme and I missed out!
$58 and $64 if I remember right. Oh well.

My pick-up is tomorrow morning and guess what? - doesn't matter what anything else sold for prior I have no other place or plans for them. My couple dollars Im figuring on getting per pelt may see a down side because of mold, staleness, shrinkage etc. Cripes its been like 4-5 months since the last pickup I believe?
