I’m going to fish at Indian Lake, Ohio. Should I use night should I use nightcrawlers, cut bait, bluegill, or chicken gizzards. Is there one for both or should I use a different bait for each. Sorry for all the questions with previous threads but I just want get on some fish this year.

All of the above will work for channels. For the flatties go with the live bluegill or nightcrawlers.

Chicken Livers not gizzards. Two different organs.

Gizzards don't seem to work well for me. They're tough so they stay on the hook we'll, they just don't catch much. Livers work, if you can keep them on the hook.

I would use fresh cut fish. Shad, skip jack, blue gill, sucker or carp. Fresh raw shrimp if I cannot get cut bait. [Linked Image]

Yes they do!
Another little trick to catch chanels with chicken livers is to buy a cheap pair of women’s nylon stockings. Using a sharp pair of scissors cut them up into 21/2–3” squares. Bait the hook then place in the center of one of the squares with the hook eye up. Gather the four corners up and tie with sewing thread. If you tie a few inches of thread on the line just above the eye before you bait up the whole process takes about 30 seconds. Really helps keep the bait from coming off an keeps the little bait thieves from stealing the bait before the big guys show up.
A lot of guys here in trout country do the same thing with material sold for that purpose with salmon eggs.
They’re called spawn sacks.
Tight lines.

For eater channel cats around here I use stink bait.
If I can't get cut bait I use raw shrimp. Not cooked, but
raw.
