Never could understand having a dog sleep in my bed, or in my house but I don't own a dog so there's that. What I find amazing is people that think there dog is like a person and treat them like that.

By the way Coos, I love that humpback in the picture with your Springer. I've always wanted one of those!

Thanks, it's a little heavy to carry and a 16, so ammo is pricey, but it's a hand me down and I can flat out hit birds with it so it's worth the trade off. They're amazingly simple and well built.

All of my dogs have always slept under the house. I never let a dog become an in-door pooch.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

I have had kennel dogs. Beagle , English setter, German shorthair pointers. Currently no hunting dogs do to lack of time to run them enough.

I do have a border collie and german Shepherd in the house
They both sleep on the floor on my wifes side. ( when the border collie doesn't sneak in bed)

Apparently you've never had a good dog.

I agree with that. My wife turned an outside dog I had into an inside dog when we started dating. It was bitterly cold one night and I was at work. I came home and the dog (mixed breed) was inside and that's where it stayed except for the 2 times it got sprayed by a skunk. Once when I took her coon hunting and the other time just wandering around outside.
The 2 golden retrievers (non hunting) we've had since then have always been inside. I agree dogs are far more loyal than most people. We both talk more to the dog and cat than each other as we work kind of opposite shifts. They're spoiled but that's okay. Both pets sleep where they want which I don't care usually but if I want my spot on the couch the dog gets slid over.

Working dogs stay outside in their kennels until they retire.
The house dogs sleep in their kennels inside.

My last dog was a Husky and he got sick and had to be put down. I vowed I will never have another dog because I don't ever want to feel that feeling again.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Going to be a bunch of good animals needing homes when this thing is over and people have no time to deal with the ones they took on to amuse themselves now.

The good times far outweigh the loss. You made a dog happy for its whole life and you could do it again.

How many dollars you run through that beast every month ?

And how do you manage the massive minefield........ grin

9 cups of dry food a day. 40lbs of food every 3ish weeks. And I suppose an equivalent amount out the back.
