White bass are not really sought after but I think it’s still fun to catch them. I was thinking of using a chartreuse spinner bait but if there is something better, I’ll use it

white 1/8 oz doll fly (crappie jig) with 6# line. These white bass eat shad and the white doll flies resemble the shad. Also works well on wipers.

I have eaten a lot of white bass and have found they are okay eating, but not close to bluegill, crappie, walleye and perch in tastiness. I have always fried them. What's your preferred way to cook them?

Any fast, white or silver colored lure, when the white bass are running, especially after dark, works well. My friend Leroy and I used to each fill up a large cooler with white bass fishing near the only light on at a dock, during their run every May. Their numbers are incredible.

We would fish for them at Lake Barkley by idling in neutral near big bays, waiting for the big schools to blow up on the surface chasing shad. We would dart over to where they were and throw metal bait which you could throw a mile called Gay Blade (yes, that is the name of them) beyond the school and retrieve through it. Those white bass hit them hard.

Yep, a sonar. Muskrat and I slammed them on red/white sonars, but any color scheme will likely work.

The white bass or sand bass as we call them in Oklahoma will bite about anything. I like to use rooster tail spinners. All colors work but white has been good to me. They work well for casting and trolling. In march we catch a bunch when they are running good then in too summer and fall I just go troll for them in the lakes. Here is 108 that we caught last year all on rooster tail spinners, we caught them on all colors.
