What's the trick...upholstery thread & a glovers needle? I'm not looking to become a professional wallet maker by any means, but I'm thinking of making something(s) that might be cool in the house, maybe a small pouch for example.

Lets hear/see what some of you have made.

Is an awl what people might also use for hooping a beaver, but with some sort of thicker lacing instead of thread?

An awl (to my knowledge) resembles an ice pick, just for punching holes.

I seen the ones up north use real good white string.I'm sure any kind of strong string would work.
