I have a big desire to go after the wolves. Each year it’s grown. Next year my goals are way higher than maybe possible. Wolves and Bears are taking a hurting this year from me and my family.

Not much. I would prefer to spend the time making marten sets. Much more lucrative in the long run. And the marten don't stink like wolves do 10/4

And the marten don't stink like wolves do Imagine it took quite a few wolves to arrive at that realization though? Grandpa, No need to think you're the odd man out. They're a lot of work and pretty low success rates. A ton of other really cool opportunities to do with your trapping time here in ID instead. I enjoy the challenge of pursuing them, but I'm smack dab in the middle of wolf country. Love to trade the experience for some southern ID muskrats or coyotes though!

I would agree with J Park. If there was all kinds of balance, my desire would be only about so so. If the dear and elk were getting thinned down, I'd probably want to do the same for the local wolf packs. Where I am at, the coyotes and hogs populations need thinned and my beloved bobcats are far from being endangered. I can only anticipate what I would do if I had to deal with wolves but if I seen them after livestock I would probably go into auto pilot for a spell or two

In would want to intentionally catch one just because I could say I did then would go from there. Because I have never caught one and don't really see any sign locally I can't give a good answer. I trap coyote for the challenge, if I did like white17 says I could trap beaver and rats and make more money because they are everywhere. I trap some of those every year for bait.
Wish I had more time to trap....

I'm chompping at the bit I have 3 preference points . Just waiting for the political games to end with the delisting . I just wish the DNR would not give out mass volumes of tags like they did in the past when quota was met in 2 days . They could back off on the permits so people could enjoy the experience for awhile .

Do what you Enjoy!!! I remember how down in the dumps I was after my big stroke and was feeling low about not havinf the same desires as the Seasons came. Racerboy 108 on here told me "turn the page- and read the next chapter " I cannot tell you how that helped me out . Life's a book . Turn the page!!!!
I had a God moment this week, actually about 3 already. Wolves get stuck in a trap, we are free to change directions anytime we choose.

I caught 2 wolves It was cool but I could care less about trapping any more. It's the same with hunting black bears I killed one and I could care less about killing another one.
My buddy catches 3 or 4 every year In Northern WI he said It's no big deal It's like catching big coyotes.
