Here are my top three reasons for asking this question, and it can be a tannery anywhere in the US.
Which tannery has the best of these in this order #1 Quality #2 Turn around time #3 Price
I am looking for people who have first hand knowledge! ( Who have had fur processed themselves).
Thank you
Scott

Moyle’s does great work never had a complaint but they are not fast other places have been faster but lacked in one area or another. They might shine on a civet but the some other species looks “off” or rough.

Z&L tannery Newark N.J. I have had raccoon, fox and beaver done by Leo. I have been sending skins to him every year for 10 years or so .Great price, turnaround and quality! Checks all your boxes! Been sending to Leo for many years. Great work, sometimes a month turn around, far cheaper than Moyles. Plus shipping to NJ is far cheaper than to Idaho. When you call them...you’re talking directly to Leo, the owner. Very nice man also.

As with almost anything, there is no best. Try one with good reviews and see how you like it.

I have had several years of selected furs tanned by Sleepy Creek Tannery in Iowa in recent years. I have used other tanneries over the years but I am staying with Sleepy Creek now. They do a very nice garment tan process with very few damage problems. I have had vests , jackets and coats made from their tanned fur. They were beautiful garments once completed.
Just sent out 31 beaver a few weeks back. Turn around is about avg. I would say and their pricing is reasonable.
Glad to hear this about Sleepy Creek. Sent him beaver, otter, muskrat and mink from my first season earlier this spring. I think he said around 6 months turn around time. Can't wait.

I have always been very happy with Sleepy Creek Tannery. www.sleepycreektannery.com I've used Moyles way back many years ago with good results but no current info on them from me, I'll stick with Sleepy Creek.

I have used most if not all of the ones mentioned in this thread so far and Moyle is at the top of my list. Their quality is obvious when you put their work beside any other. Their volume price breaks are a little different than some but overall, their prices are competitive. They did have some turn around time issues a couple of years ago but those have been solved. I just wish they had a facility on the east side of the big river so the shipping cost to get pelts to them was more reasonable.

I'll second this. This is the second consecutive year that I've sent to Sleepy Creek with otters, beavers, skunks, muskrats, fisher, marten, bobcats, etc. and all have come back very nice. Turn around time has been between 3-4 months and prices are in line with other tanneries. I have had several years of selected furs tanned by Sleepy Creek Tannery in Iowa in recent years. I have used other tanneries over the years but I am staying with Sleepy Creek now. They do a very nice garment tan process with very few damage problems. Have only used Moyles. Price and turn around time were fine. Quality is excellent
