I'm a Marine I was trained to take orders. I never served In combat but I feel that when I was ordered to go up that hill I would have gone. But I will never know. You can train and be trained for every situation that might occur but until It happens you don't know what your going to do or how you will act. It's easy to sit back and be a Monday night quarter back.

I'm not defending the cop but since none of us have ever faced a situation like this you don't know how you would react. Sure we can all be computer tough but you never know until the lead starts to fly. Whether you're a cop, a truck driver, or a grocery store clerk, you have a duty to do your job. If a grocery clerk decides not to do their job and ring people up they have the right to not do so. They can find another job. If the cop found out that he was too scared to even attempt to save those kids, then fine, but he at the very least should have considered that moment to be his resignation, NOT fight to get his job back for crying out loud. He's already proved he's incapable of doing it.

while a school got shot up in FL? …. This ain't the same guy!! The guy we are thinking of is Scott Peterson. This guy is his boss, just as chicken, but not the guy assigned to the school. Peterson ain't getting nothin' back. He was charged with a bunch of felonies on top of being canned.

Give an illegal alien a fish and he eats for a day. Deport him and you never have to feed him ever again!

He was charged with a bunch of felonies on top of being canned. That is correct. Scot Peterson, the guy most folks probably think this thread is about, was the school resource officer and was on scene when the shooting started. He retreated to a place of safety and hid there while seventeen students were murdered. The guy in the article Danny linked to is Sgt. Brian Miller. He was the first officer to arrive. He got there while shots were still being fired. He also hid in a place of safety while seventeen students were murdered. He didn't even call for back up or anything else for more than ten minutes.
Eh...wot?

Curious because I’ve never seen it nor have any of my LEO friends, but where is it written that the police are supposed to jump in front of a bullet or risk their lives for an individual? Does anyone have that handbook or anything else that states that? I realize everyone on this site would risk their lives for anyone as stated in the comments, but I’ve never seen it written anywhere in a job description that it’s mandatory. Protect and serve must have a different meaning to you and your LEO friends than to the rest of us.

You don't know what you would do until it's time to do it. You can be the baddest dude in the world on this site but you never know until It hits the fan.
