Count sleep last night so I figured I'd make some gadgets to make fencing less of a pain. Don't tho k the neighbors where super happy I was up till 2a.m cutting and welding but hay

First thing was a wire roller. Gotta say arthritis in the hips makes dragging a a roll of wire a pain through the woods even more of a pain but with this deal all I do is carry the wire to the start of the row in fold the frame load the roll and just walk. Made out of some scrap 3/8 cold roll ,1/2" rebar and some steel nuts . Works even better when you have a designated wire dragged 😂😂

Second think was a wire stretcher. Yeah tractor supply wanted a but much for attachemets so a old pair vice grips, some #2 chain ,hand full if 20D nails and 5/16ths nuts and tada! Nothing is permanently attached to the comalong just snaps to the hooks. Via the swivels. The vice grips clamp on the wire and the chain ( which has welded S hooks at different points to allow for more of less take up) goes around a tree which are always within a few feet.

This worked pretty good too but the comalong I got ( the $15 one from harbor freight ) dosent have the best release mechanism and the pair of vice grips I used is missing the release lever but a little work with a pair of fencing plier made that a non issue for the most part.
Anyhow just wanted to share.

Thats some rough country to fence in!! We are able to just tie the wire off to the corner post, throw the spools on some posts we mount on the four wheeler and drive.

Has your family ever done one of those ancestry family trees and if so was Geo Washington Carver one of your great greats?

Be careful with the wire stretcher. I think you may be better off tying a loop on the end of the wire, you're stretching and putting that over the hook. Vice grip's teeth can break or slip off and that wire, when tight, will cut you, even without the barbs, if it breaks lose or breaks.

My friend Dennis's son got hit by a cable we were using to load a small chicken house on a trailer. It cut him though his winter coat, a sweatshirt underneath and a T-shirt underneath that and bruised him to. Tight wires can do really bad damage to you when they get loose.

Wolf If you would have just removed the vice grip adjustment screw and added a eye bolt you would have saved the vise grips for other uses.

Keep on doing your thing.

That stretcher will give you scars you never imagined. The one at TSC is the best money you’ll spend. Thats a disaster waiting to happen, and it won’t wait long.
This is the one, not the one that grips with jaws.
