I live in a condo association. The 72 acre property is like a park. People are walking all day long, but turkey are common. A few years ago we had three gobblers who would peck on our glass door to call us. They wanted sunflower seeds. One by over a period of about a month, coyotes got all three. Every death that year occurred in a street. Next year was just two gobblers, of which one was dominant. This year we have one large gobbler who shows up with one or two hens. Wife and I sit on our patio and the gobbler comes within about three feet. Hens have been more wary.

Each year is a different bird(s). I wonder how they learn to return to the same address each year. Big gobbler last year had one spur and a nub. Not uncommon for mallard drakes to come in groups. A week ago a cottontail rabbit was scratching on our screen door. That was a first.

I think I could catch the gobbler with a cast net.

Animals and people can sense good and bad vibes. You and the Mrs must be putting out positive messages.

How did you do as a commercial fisherman?

I was a crabber mostly. Kept getting worse every year until no longer fun. Crabs seemed to move across our sound to the mainland side, and are still there. I moved from the coast to Asheville three years ago. Transferred my commercial license back to the man who originally transferred it to me.

Helped clean a lot of fish for charter boats in the afternoons. Even that went downhill.

That wouldn't be a challenge for a seasoned commercial fisherman.

Try instead to grab the Gobbler by a leg, but watch out for his spurs !!! laugh

Turkeys tame up pretty fast when you offer free groceries, I got 14 total , 3 big toms, show up twice a day for their handout. shake the can and say "hey, come and get it" and they run to you , lol,

Mine come out of the woods and give me the stink eye when the bird feeder is empty.

We had a tom that herded my neighbors guineas around our properties.
The dang thing was overly friendly, Kinda scary in a way, when it followed you around.
I have a picture of it standing in my shop next to my shotgun.

At 7 am the gobbler was walking in the street and gobbled about 15 times. A fire truck siren lite him up.
