I purchased a pair of black colored LaCross hip boots about 6 years ago and they have held up great. I store them properly when not in use. They have small handles inside the boot below the knee level for pulling the boot fully on which comes in handy too.

If you just use them to launch the boat, you probably don't need a $100+ pair. I've used a relatively cheap pair of pvc hip waders from Frogg Togg that have held up fine. The footprint is rather small though. I just recently picked up a pair of 4mm neoprene waders from Rogers Sporting Goods and so far I love them. They stay up all on their own without using the strap, and they have a bigger boot that should provide better support and more warmth. Probably overkill for launching a boat, but here's a link. https://www.rogerssportinggoods.com...prene-Hip-Wader?quantity=1&Sizes=826

I wish they made boots that are somewhere in between the height of knee boots & hip boots. Too often I go over my knee boots, but hip boots can be a little bulky if hip height is not truly needed.
