I am looking to put a solar fence charger around my garden. Do not have any experience with solar powered chargers. Do any of you guys or gals run one? And what brands are the best or worst. Thanks to all

According to reviews among beekeepers (bear deterrance) the Parmak 12 is highly recommended.

A friend keeps bees at our place, runs a parmak 12 around them for bears. Seems like a solid unit, all metal, probably overkill for deer in your garden, 4-5k volts min is recommended for bears, coyote, etc. We just ordered a parmak 6 volt for lambs we're pasturing. Close to the same voltage, much cheaper.

Baiting the fence is a good idea for a garden, peanut butter on tinfoil.

Tractor supply has inexpensive models I think there are 3 in the barn if you wanna stop and get them.
Pro tip- don't skip on the ground and water it when you put it in or it gets dry. The charger will do its job so all you gotta do is your own. Solars aren't charged up fully for maybe 24 hrs so don't let them get a light tap- get it up and running with a full on slap your face zap.

I have Gallagher's and Patriots, really like the Patriot 12v. I have four or more of each, have gone almost 100% solar.

The 6v chargers throw pretty good voltage, especially on short runs. Off hand I know my 12v are running around 6 to 8k volts, my 6v I am guessing would be 5 to 6k. Gallagher 6v yesterday on a creek crossing had every bit of 6k.

If you have a small garden then the cheaper ones will work OK. they are rated by miles of fence charged.
5 miles is common around here.
Keep the hot wire close to the ground with a ground wire above it for coon.
.Coon are the biggest problem here in Iowa. We don't have many lol bears lol around here.
Ours is a Zareba brand. Pretty common around here and did a good job for us.We used it for cattle in a 20 acre pasture.

We have run a Parmak 6v solar fencer around our bee hives for about 10 years. Same fencer with the same battery is still running without issue and we leave it up year 'round. Also gets connected to a garden fence in the summer months.

Around here lots of pasture fences use a regular 12 volt charger with a $30 dollar solar panel from harbor freight.

Everything the left touches it destroys
