Sent a box of beaver tails to Specialty Leathers in Iowa. Most were dried but some of my smaller ones were just fresh frozen in a zip loc freezer bag. (Apparently fresh tails are preferred).
So after about 8 days my package came back to my local PO. Nothing was noted on the box but now the fresh frozen tails reeked pretty good according to my post master. I didn't come in that day so he sent them back out. He told me tracking showed they made it to Des Moines but then came back west.
So, now another 8 days later they once again came back and tracking has them going to Des Moines and then sent back.
They stink pretty good and my post master is burning incense in his little office today. No reason given for them coming back and the address is good.
Specialty says they get tails in every day through USPS and never have had this happen.

Carl - you must be jinxed when it comes to shipping packages. First beaver castor to Indiana and now beaver tails to Iowa.
Or maybe the problems occur when you ship to a state starting with the letter ‘I’. Wanna see what happens if you ship something to Idaho!! LOL You forgot my 25# of beaver castor I sent to Ontario Canada that never got there either. (USPS). I did get the standard $50 for a lost package after a couple of months.

I just made a deal with a guy on the Trap Shed. Two USPS Flat Rate boxes shipped at the same time and arrived at the first facility at the same time. Then they parted ways. One arrived last Thursday and the other just now, four days later.
Eh...wot?

When you check tracking and it says "In Transit" For whatever reason it takes longer to ship something from/to Wisconsin or the Upper Peninsula then Texas or Nevada Or Idaho

i sold a fishing reel on ebay. sent it april 7. instead of going west it went to NJ and scanned there 3 times. last scanned on april 13. well the person requested a refund. then the reel finally showed up in cali. it scanned arrived at postoffice out for delivery and delivered all in just a few hours. that was just on may 12. it did not show any other scans. so then i looked again and it shows scans on may 5 and may 11 that had not shown before. they are just dumb.

I should mention too that I ordered a book through Amazon (in mid March) that was shipped via USPS. Was supposed to get to me at the latest April 6th. By April 20th I asked for my money back and got it, plus apologies. The third party shipper said that the book just disappeared. Never came back to her either.

I just made a deal with a guy on the Trap Shed. Two USPS Flat Rate boxes shipped at the same time and arrived at the first facility at the same time. Then they parted ways. One arrived last Thursday and the other just now, four days later. I have tried to answer some questions on USPS problems if I think I can figure out what happened. I am a tech on the postal machines. Generally if pkgs shipped at the same time to same place arrive on different days is possibly one pkg may have stuck to another pkg on the pkg machine and instead of dropping in the Iowa bin it drops to the stuck pkg going to Wyoming. So then it gets to Wyoming proc ctr and the process starts all over again. On the beaver tails as long as address was correct and nothing leaked on the address label it should have gotten there pronto. And do not waste your time with "handle with care" or "handstamp" writing on the pkg. Those days are longggggg gone and everything gets dumped on a long belt and sent into the machines.

They will beat you to death with the word perishable even if they screwed up 100%, you can try to file a claim but it would be useless. Been there done that.
