I bought a product called Bayer Complete Insect Killer when our yard got infested with fleas one year. Pete put it on once, and we had no more fleas and very few ticks for the whole summer. We live in a clearing in the middle of the woods so usually have tons of ticks in the yard.

Keep in mind, I'm sure it will kill good bugs like bees, ladybugs, and lightening bugs just as dead as the bad bugs.

I am sure between my wife and I, we have picked over 50 tick off us and the dog in the last three days. I have free range chickens. I don't think chickens of guinea chickens are the answer. We picked over 30 off the dog yesterday in one setting.

I have lived in this house for 20 plus years and when we first moved here I would see less than five ticks a season. I can see five in a day and not go outside now. I would guess I have had free range chickens for over half the time I have lived here. We have ticks and chickens now.
I saved ticks for the ND Health Department for a couple years. They were doing a study on tick types in ND and what diseases they were carrying. I sat in on a couple briefings they gave about the study and they said that ND had types of ticks we never had before and some carried some bad stuff.
I would just as soon have ticks as spray something on the lawn that will kill bugs for a month, that is not supposed to get on your skin. I can't see the grand kids rolling in it or the dog walking in it. You can pull them off. You don't have to leave them bit on.
Here is a zip lock with some of the ticks we have found in the last three days. I put a folded up TP square in it with rubbing alcohol on it to gas them. I will have ticks like this until July. It seems like once it gets hot it thins them out. We have bugs, some bite.

Eliminator is just a generic Walmart branding and there are a wide variety of products under that Eliminator brand, such as herbicides that copy Roundup. You'd have to be more specific in what that Eliminator product is.

EDIT: Well, I looked it up and it's probably the "Ant, Flea, and Tick Killer Plus granules".

I spray my pant legs and boots with permethrin , white regular. Also keeps honey bees from sneaking up your pant leg . when working bee hives. old 243

Thank you folks... sounds like Permethrin of some type might work okay... but I am just passing on the info... so will let them decide.

I put a bottle of 10% permithron from the equine section @ TSC in my 25 gallon sprayer and did the yard. Haven't seen a tick in 4 years.

Im not sure I wouldn't rather have the ticks. They are quiet during siesta time and guinea fowl not so much

The only problem I've found with guinea hens is they like to wander off to greener pastures, mostly never to return, lol

I agree. Keeping the grass short will help. It may not eliminate ticks totally, but will reduce their numbers. At least, that's been my experience.

I've heard the only wild bird that will eat them are purple grackles.
