The Super Duper has been around a long time, since I was a kid. I'd call it more of a variation on a spoon, than a spinner.
Personally, I've never had any luck with them, but it's not a lure I used a lot either.
Jim I agree. It's been around since I was a kid and I'm quite sure I'm older than you. I tried them without much luck. I preferred a Swedish Pimple and still do ice fishing.

Hard to beat a good panther martin! Will have to say I've never seen a spin cast reel fished on a fly rod as shown in the pic. Probably shouldn't ask how you use it like it is. The creek I use that in is so brushy overhead it's nearly impossible to fly fish. With this setup you can under pitch the spinner. It helps to have a stiff fly rod though, not a flimsy one. Plus when fly fishing if I want to spinner fish, I just put the century reel on. Thats what my grandmother used at the lake with the old herter's yellow headed doll flies. Johnson century on an eagle claw fly rod.

Never had any luck with the duper but the Thomas fighting fish has been a winner over the years... if you’re into experimenting it’s well worth a try. I get the gold or silver and paint half long wise with red nail polish.

Probably 85% of the fishing I do is with a fly. When I throw hardware for trout or grayling, the silver Super Duper with a red tip is one of my go-to lures, along with various Panther Martins and Roostertails. Been using them here in AK for at least 50 years.

Nessmuck, I fish brook trout in a couple small streams, streams you could jump across. I just use live bait there, worms mostly. I tried the Super Dupers for rainbows.
