Would a snare swivel made from the black 11 ga. Wire sold by MTP be sufficiently strong for an in water beaver snare intended to drown in 3-4' of water? Seems awful flimsy compared to the #9 wire but I've seen the 11 ga. marketed for coyote snares (which seems crazy to me...but I'm just learning cable)
Snare would be 3/32 / 1x19 with a slim lock
Just happy to be here.

You dont need a swivel on a lethal snare.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Interesting, I had always thought it to be best practice to incorporate a swivel.
Just happy to be here.

some times things don't go as planned so the swivel is nice to have on the end of the snare

No question is stupid, years ago i lost some bodygrips and animals , since then swivels on all my bodygrips, no losses. If you feel better with swivel on snare , go for it.

I also swivel everything. It's cheap to do and like RdFx says if it makes you feel better, do it, you never now what can happen when a critter gets in your set

In years past I used 11ga. self centering swivels. Never had one break even when I cought a deer by the hoof. They strightened out. Still swiveled Never broke. Never seen where I would ever need a 9 ga. swivel. End swivels are about usless on most snares. But they keep you inside the law. Been useing 6/0 swivels for 10 years of more now. My "Go To" snare 5/64" x 42" 1x19 stainless steel, stainless, steel NEWT"S LOCK,6/0 swivel 3/32" x 66" 7x7 stainless steel cable loop end.All copper ferrules.
