Well Mr Dessup announced yesterday that the US/Canadian border will remain closed until at least June 21st. That decision will effect every outfitter in the country. Our summer season is now canceled. The worst part of it is that our Yukon Premier ( a liberal of course) is not giving us a concrete plan on how the Territory will reopen. Even though most other provinces have. To add insult to injury the Liberals have decided not to give out any permits to harvest morels. I guess theres more of a chance of spreading covid in the middle of nowhere than there is in Walmart since the big stores have been open since this started. The stupidity is mind blowing. Anyway looks like I get the summer off! Nice to see that AK is entering phase 3 already!

A permit for mushroom picking? What’s up with that?

Never mind, I did some looking, you only need a permit if harvesting for commercial reasons, not for personal use. That clarifies it a bit for me.

But I won’t disagree on the stupidity of certain things. I’m not allowed to travel 50 miles north to our cabin yet people from Alberta are all over my area fishing right now. But our provincial Conservative govt has drawn a line saying nobody north. So, I can’t go 50 miles north but inst ad have to share the boat launch here with out of province guys who’ve travelled 200 miles. Stupidity isn’t unique to your provincial liberals, look at our conservatives.

A friend of my dad's has been going to the same place near Ignace, Ontario for the last 15 years or so, always the first weekend in June. Not this year. I've gone with them a few times, it's always fun and I'm usually sick of fishing by the end of the week!

Yup insanity is everywhere and in every party. The way I see it this might end up being a blessing in disguise. The general public is going to learn the hard way that the Government gets the money for all of the social programs they love so much from the hardworking taxpayer / business owners. Going to be a lot less people paying those taxes before this is over. A lot of programs will have to be cut. Here in Yukon our annual federal transfer payment is north of 1 billion dollars and our population is under 40,000 people. The vast majority of those 40k people produce or provide nothing for society, because they are on the government payroll.

I think the mysterious drones all over the country have been dropping fairy dust which is making everybody lose their minds. I mean all over the place. Both U.S. and Canada politicians have gone off the rails. None of it makes a bit of sense.

This place is now called Rousseau's Landing, just north of Ignace on 599. I've only fished there a few times so I'm not real familiar with what's nearby.

Sure is going to be tough sledding for all those in the tourism/guiding/resort business this year no matter where you're located.
I hope things settle down by mid summer so at least some of these businesses can make some income.

Wait until someone looks into, and posts how many guns have been added to our new firearms ban....they have been adding guns to the list so fast I cant even keep up. Its gone WAY beyond anything even resembling an assault weapons ban...
