Going to buy a meat grinder to do a beef and deer. What do you use/like? What works good and last?

LEM Big bite 3/4hp has worked great for me.
Got it used, but brand new for $180.00 Canadian.
Which in US funds would currently buy you a case of pop (soda?) pack of gum and a Mcdonalds quarter pounder.

I have the #12 LEM big bite if your doing beef I wouldn't go any smaller and if you can afford it step up to the #22 it increases the hole size from 2 1/4 to 3 inch grinding deer , it takes it near as fast as I can feed it the two weaknesses I have seen in smaller grinders , are plastic gears and the bushing the auger presses against. the LEM is metal gears and, the LEM has a good thick nylon bushing you can lube and replace when it is worn. with most things , I like to go parts shopping for a tool before buying the tool https://www.lemproducts.com/category/12-big-bite-grinder-partsyou can buy gears , switches virtually everything but the motor and housing. not that I have needed any of it since buying mine in 2008 but I like the availability.

3 of us got together and bought a grinder from Cabelas don't know the model but we have had It for 5 or 6 years and I lost track of how many deer I have put through It let alone the other 2 guys. It's never missed a beat.

I got the largest one cabelas had in 2015, i like it it's the bait grinder. Also have a smaller one from cabelas for re-grinding lure. And our wild game grinder is a toro, it's 15 years old and no complaints on it either.
Let me sugar coat this

Thanks for the information in this and the other thread. I just ordered a LEM 22 1 hp from Midway USA. Free shipping. Got hamburger bags and a bag taping machine.
I've got to slow down this retirement is way to much work!!!!! That machine will not let you down! Wish I would have bought one like it 25 years ago. Chris

I have ALTRA meat grinder and pretty happy with it now. However, I've never used it for a deer meat. I used it only to make hamburgers and meatball and the meat texture was smooth. Anyway, it's multufunctional, very powerfull and I think it might work well with it.

By the way, I was curious about what kind of grinder can work with deer and here what I found: - Here is an article 'How to grind your own elk and deer burger'. You can find a lot of advices there and the author also says about the grinder he used. So you can buy something like this because it's definitely works with this kind of meat. - Here you can find another article (it actually says it's a buying guide) with a description of different types of grinders, its pros and cons. I think it can be useful to know before buying something. - One more article about 'How to butcher a deer – grinding venison'. Here I've found particular meat grinders' examples for deer meat. It's a full guide of how to do it better. Actually, I found more info but not sure that I can post lots of links
